Product Owner - Life Insurance Mobile App (Non-Tech)
Why this role exists
Our mobile app sits at the center of how customers interact with our life insurance products. It has to balance business goals, regulatory requirements, and real user needs , all while being built by engineering teams who need absolute clarity to deliver well.
We're looking for a Product Owner who can translate complex business and compliance requirements into clean, executable product requirements , work closely with engineering through delivery, and ensure what ships is exactly what was intended.
You'll own execution and delivery for the life insurance mobile app. That includes
. A well-prioritised backlog aligned to business and regulatory timelines
. Clear, implementation-ready requirements for engineering
. Smooth coordination across Product, Tech, Compliance, Design, and Ops
When things ship cleanly and work as expected, that's success.
. Own and prioritise the product backlog in line with quarterly business goals and regulatory commitments.
. Write clear PRDs, user stories, acceptance criteria, and edge cases that engineering teams can directly build from.
. Break complex business requirements into logically sequenced, delivery-ready stories.
2) Be the bridge between business and engineering . Act as the single point of requirement clarity between business stakeholders and tech teams.
. Discuss intent, flows, constraints, dependencies, and edge cases confidently with engineers-without writing code.
. Understand and work with core technical concepts such as APIs, integrations, data flows, system dependencies, performance constraints, and release trade-offs.
. Challenge solutions constructively by asking the right how, why, and impact questions, and suggesting better approaches when needed.
3) Manage stakeholders and delivery . Partner with engineering during sprint planning, backlog grooming, UAT, and release sign-offs.
. Coordinate with Compliance, Legal, Ops, Marketing, and Design to ensure feasibility and regulatory adherence.
. Proactively identify delivery risks caused by technical dependencies, unclear requirements, or timing constraints.
4) Improve the product continuously . Work with UX to validate journeys for simplicity, conversion, and scalability.
. Track feature performance using app metrics and analytics inputs.
. Support pilots, phased rollouts, and post-launch reviews with data-backed recommendations.
. Help close the loop on production issues and post-release fixes.
Must-have
. 2-3 years of experience as a Product Owner, Product Analyst, or Business Analyst
(BFSI, fintech, or insurance experience preferred).
(BFSI, fintech, or insurance experience preferred).
. Proven ability to work closely with engineering teams and drive requirement clarity.
. Working understanding of mobile app architecture at a conceptual level (frontend, backend, APIs, third-party integrations).
. Strong written and verbal communication skills-able to explain the
why
as clearly as the what
. Good to have
. Exposure to regulated digital products (IRDAI, RBI, KYC, payments).
. Hands-on experience with tools like Jira, Confluence, Figma, Firebase/GA, Excel, or BI dashboards.
. Experience supporting UAT, handling production issues, and managing post-release fixes.
This role suits someone who
. Enjoys bringing structure to ambiguity
. Likes working closely with engineers without being a developer
. Cares about getting things right the first time, especially in regulated environments
. Is comfortable owning delivery, not just writing requirements
