Job Description
Responsibilities
- To develop classical (LP, IP, MIP problems) and/or evolutionary optimization (Genetic Algorithms, Differential Evolution and other evolutionary optimisation algorithms) models for various functions and operations.
- Expertise in AIMMS, ILOGCPLEX or other commercial solvers will be useful.
- To develop system simulation models (Discrete Event Simulation, Agent based simulation) in order to redesign, debottleneck and optimize processes.
- To analyse and visualise process and business data in order to build optimisation models
- To develop, maintain and update computer programs related to optimization and simulations.
- To analyse manufacturing, marketing and supply chain processes (most often in a project environment) and develop ideas to generate insights and improvements.
- To develop customized optimization algorithms for improving yield, cost and productivity of various operations.
- To develop hybrid simulation and visualization models to help in decisionmaking.
Education
- B Tech/ BE, M Tech/ MS in Mechanical/Metallurgical/ Electrical/ Electronics/ Computer Science/ Instrumentation/ Industrial Engineering/ Operations Research.
Experience
- Experience related to optimisation (both classical and evolutionary) logic development and system simulation.
- Programming and process trouble-shooting experience will be preferred.
- Exposure to different optimisation tools and mathematical models will be preferred.
- Basic understanding of statistics will be an added advantage.
Technical Competencies
- Optimisation, system simulation, programming, system engineering and flow design, Logic building, Scenario analysis
- Proficient in RDBMS such as PostgresQL or MySQL
- Programming languages like R /MATLAB / Python

- Identify and solve business-wide problems using a combination of Big data and Operations Research (OR) techniques
- Build, validate, test, and deploy models and algorithms using proven and experimental techniques
- Define hypotheses, develop and execute necessary tests, experiments, and analyses to prove or disprove them
- Develop creative algorithms by employing OR techniques
- Translate data speak to human speak by effectively conceptualizing analysis to team members and business stakeholders
