Job Description

Job Purpose:

Lead reservoir engineering activities for clean energy projects by driving reservoir evaluation, simulation, production forecasting and field optimization studies to support production planning, resource assessment and long-term asset performance improvement across exploration, pilot and operational phases.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead reservoir engineering studies including reservoir characterization, simulation modelling, production analysis and performance forecasting for clean energy projects.
  • Plan and execute reservoir simulation and dynamic modelling studies to evaluate reservoir behavior, cavity growth, pressure response and production performance.
  • Conduct production history matching and calibration studies using operational, geological and subsurface datasets.
  • Lead well testing programmes, pressure transient analysis and reservoir parameter estimation activities for evaluation of reservoir performance and production potential.
  • Develop short-term and long-term production forecasts, recovery estimates and reservoir performance scenarios to support business planning and operational decision-making.
  • Analyze production trends, injection performance, pressure behaviour and subsurface response to identify optimization opportunities and operational risks.
  • Coordinate with geology, drilling, production and subsurface teams to integrate reservoir inputs into field development and operational planning activities.
  • Support preparation and review of reservoir models using appropriate simulation software and validate assumptions, input datasets and modelling outcomes.
  • Conduct sensitivity and parametric studies to assess the impact of operational, geological and reservoir variables on production performance and recovery outcomes.
  • Drive field optimization initiatives including production enhancement studies, well intervention analysis and reservoir management strategies.
  • Support preparation of reservoir management plans, development strategies, reserves assessments and technical recommendations for management review.
  • Evaluate performance of producing assets and identify opportunities for production stabilization, recovery improvement and operational efficiency enhancement.
  • Participate in techno-economic evaluations related to reservoir development scenarios, production strategies and subsurface optimization initiatives.
  • Coordinate with external consultants, technology providers and technical partners for specialized reservoir studies and simulation activities where required.
  • Ensure quality assurance and technical validation of reservoir engineering workflows, simulation outputs and performance analysis reports.
  • Prepare periodic technical reports, production analysis summaries, reserves updates and reservoir performance reviews for internal stakeholders.
  • Lead and mentor reservoir engineering team members by providing technical guidance, work allocation, capability development and performance feedback.
  • Build technical capability within the team on reservoir simulation tools, production analysis techniques and integrated subsurface workflows.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Masters / Bachelors degree in Petroleum Engineering or related discipline; Masters degree preferred.
  • 12-18 years of experience in reservoir engineering, production analysis and subsurface evaluation within energy, gas, mining or related sectors.
  • Strong experience in reservoir simulation, production forecasting, well testing and reservoir performance analysis.
  • Experience working on unconventional energy resources, gasification projects or integrated subsurface development projects preferred.
  • Proficiency in reservoir simulation and modelling software such as Petrel RE, Eclipse, CMG, COMET or equivalent platforms.
  • Strong understanding of reservoir management, production optimization and integrated subsurface workflows.
  • Experience managing technical teams and coordinating multidisciplinary subsurface studies.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and technical reporting capabilities.
  • Ability to work in evolving and technology-driven project environments with cross-functional coordination requirements.
