Job Description
- The Senior Software Engineer will be responsible for developing and maintaining software solutions for test automation, data acquisition, and hardware integration in a lab and manufacturing environment. The role requires strong expertise in full-stack development, hardware-software interfacing, and industrial communication protocols.
- The candidate will work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver reliable, high-quality test systems while ensuring compliance with CTE safety and quality standards.
Engineering Development
- Develop and maintain Python-based applications for test automation and data acquisition.
- Design and implement GUI applications using PyQt / PySide frameworks.
- Develop backend services using Django framework.
- Build frontend applications using JavaScript and React for component-based user interfaces.
- Contribute to full-stack development using Next.js (including SSR, routing, and API development).
- Maintain source code using Git / Bitbucket and follow version control best practices.
Hardware Integration Test Systems
- Develop and support Automated Test Equipment (ATE) systems for manufacturing and lab environments.
- Interface with data acquisition systems such as NI cDAQ and Beckhoff I/O modules.
- Work with electrical and motion control fundamentals for system integration.
- Integrate and validate sensors including thermal, vibration, motion, pressure, optical, and related systems.
- Work with optical components such as LEDs, lasers, and optical sensors.
Communication Protocols System Integration
Develop and integrate systems using industrial communication protocols, including:
- RS-232 / RS-422 / RS-485
- DeviceNet
- EtherCAT
- Modbus
- Digital I/O and Analog I/O
- TCP/IP Sockets
- VISA
- SPI
- FTDI
Quality, Safety Compliance
- Ensure all software and hardware solutions comply with CTE safety and quality standards.
- Follow engineering processes, documentation standards, and compliance requirements.
- Support validation and verification of test systems.
Collaboration Support
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to deliver project objectives and milestones.
- Provide technical support to operational and manufacturing teams.
- Participate in knowledge transfer activities and share best known methods (BKMs).
- Work closely with global stakeholders across different time zones.
Innovation Continuous Improvement
- Stay updated with advancements in test automation, software engineering, and industrial systems.
- Drive innovation and recommend adoption of new tools, frameworks, and best practices.
- Improve system performance, reliability, and maintainability through continuous enhancements.
Education
Bacheloru2019s or Masteru2019s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
Experience
- 4-6 years of relevant industry experience in software development, test automation, or hardware-software integration.
- Experience working in manufacturing, semiconductor, lab automation, or test engineering environments is highly preferred.
Programming Software Development
- Strong proficiency in Python for application development and automation scripting.
- Experience with GUI development using PyQt or PySide.
- Backend development experience using Django framework.
- Strong JavaScript skills for frontend development.
- Experience with React for modern UI development.
- Experience with Next.js for full-stack development (SSR, routing, API integration).
- Proficiency in Git / Bitbucket for source control and collaboration.
Hardware Test Engineering
- Experience with Automated Test Equipment (ATE) systems.
- Hands-on experience with NI cDAQ and Beckhoff I/O systems.
- Strong understanding of electrical engineering fundamentals, including motion control systems.
