Role & responsibilities

As a Level 3 SDA Engineer, you will lead the design, implementation, and escalation support for complex Software-Defined Access and Intent-Based Networking infrastructures. You will act as a subject matter expert, bridging enterprise routing/switching, wireless, and network security.

Key Responsibilities

  • SDA & Fabric Management: Design, deploy, and operate Cisco SDA architectures for wired and wireless networks. Design multi-site deployments including Fabric Domains, Control Plane Nodes, Border Nodes, and Edge Nodes.
  • Fabric Operations & Migration: Lead both greenfield and brownfield implementations, including the migration from traditional Over-The-Top (OTT) networks to SDA Fabric.
  • Policy & Security Integration: Configure and integrate Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) for dynamic policy enforcement, 802.1x, TrustSec, Scalable Group Tags (SGT), and endpoint profiling.
  • L3 Escalation & Troubleshooting: Resolve Tier 3/escalated incidents related to LISP registration, VXLAN encapsulation, multicast, and endpoint mobility. Provide Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for critical outages.
  • Automation & Orchestration: Leverage Cisco DNA Center (Catalyst Center) APIs and programmability to automate network provisioning, device upgrades (SWIM), and workflows.
  • Mentorship & Documentation: Create High-Level Designs (HLD), Low-Level Designs (LLD), and migration playbooks. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to L1/L2 network engineers.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education & Experience: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, IT, or equivalent experience. 8+ years of hands-on experience in enterprise networking, with at least 3-5 years explicitly focusing on Cisco SDA and DNA Center.
  • Core Technologies: Deep understanding of Underlay (OSPF, IS-IS, BGP) and Overlay networks (VXLAN, LISP, EVPN). Expertise in Cisco Catalyst switches (9000 series) and Catalyst 9800 wireless controllers.
  • Security & AAA: Strong expertise in Cisco ISE, including Policy Sets, TACACS+/RADIUS, and SGTs.
  • Network Programmability: Basic to advanced coding skills (Python, REST APIs) for network automation and orchestration.
  • Certifications: Active CCNP Enterprise (minimum)
