Software Development Engineer C++ / Object-Oriented Programming

Position Overview


As part of our development team, you will contribute your technical expertise, curiosity, and problem-solving abilities to the development of Simcenter Amesim, our system modeling and simulation software.

We are looking for a software engineer with strong logical and analytical thinking, excellent problem-solving skills, and a solid foundation in Object-Oriented Programming (OOP). More than familiarity with a particular framework, we value engineers who can understand complex problems, break them down systematically, design appropriate solutions, and translate those solutions into clean, robust, and maintainable software.

You will work on the core software platform and graphical user interface of Simcenter Amesim and collaborate with globally distributed development teams across India and France.


What Youll Do

In this role, you will:

  • Analyze complex software and engineering problems, identify root causes, evaluate possible approaches, and develop effective solutions.
  • Apply strong logical, analytical, and structured thinking to software design and development challenges.
  • Design, develop, test, and validate new capabilities for the Simcenter Amesim core platform and graphical user interface.
  • Develop high-quality software using C++ and Object-Oriented Programming principles.
  • Translate functional and technical requirements into well-structured object-oriented software designs.
  • Apply appropriate OOP concepts, design principles, data structures, algorithms, and software design patterns when solving development problems.
  • Write clean, robust, reusable, testable, and maintainable code with a strong focus on long-term software quality.
  • Understand existing and potentially complex codebases and identify opportunities to improve their design, maintainability, performance, and reliability.
  • Contribute to software architecture discussions and detailed software design for new capabilities.
  • Debug and resolve complex customer-reported and internally identified software problems through systematic root-cause analysis.
  • Participate in code reviews, design reviews, testing, and technical discussions.
  • Explore opportunities to leverage AI and agentic technologies within engineering software and software development.
  • Collaborate closely with development teams across India and France to exchange knowledge, solve problems, and deliver high-quality software.

What Were Looking For

Core Requirements

  • 1+ years of professional software development experience.
  • Strong programming skills in C++.
  • Excellent understanding and practical application of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP).
  • Strong understanding of concepts such as abstraction, encapsulation, inheritance, polymorphism, interfaces, composition, and object-oriented design.
  • Strong logical reasoning, analytical thinking, and problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to break down complex or ambiguous problems into smaller, manageable components and develop structured solutions.
  • Good understanding of data structures, algorithms, software design principles, and design patterns.
  • Ability to understand, debug, and improve an existing complex software codebase.
  • Ability to write clean, efficient, maintainable, and production-quality code.
  • Curiosity and willingness to understand why a problem occurs, rather than only implementing a short-term fix.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively in a multicultural and globally distributed team.

Preferred Skills

Experience or knowledge in the following areas would be an advantage:


  • Qt framework / Qt GUI development
  • Python
  • Git and source-control practices
  • Agile software development
  • Software architecture and design patterns
  • Unit testing and automated testing
  • Cloud/SaaS technologies
  • AI, Generative AI, LLMs, AI agents, or agentic development
  • Engineering, simulation, CAE, or scientific software development

Education

Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline (BE/BTech, ME/MTech, MCA or equivalent).
