About the Role
Complete operational and commercial ownership of a high-volume flagship retail outlet. This position requires a strategic professional with 15–20 years of FMCG experience who seamlessly blends aggressive revenue generation (Sales) with rigorous execution systems (Operations).
- Geographic Flexibility: Absolute willingness and comfort to relocate across pan-India zones: Jammu, Punjab, UP, Maharashtra, MP, Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana.
- Mandatory Language Filter: Absolute fluency (spoken, read, and written) in Telugu is non-negotiable for postings within Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
Key Responsibilities
1. Sales Excellence & Billing Productivity
- Revenue Drivers: Design and execute aggressive local sales strategies to achieve top-line revenue and volume growth.
- Basket Optimization: Train floor staff to maximize lines per bill / lines per call through systematic cross-selling and up-selling.
- Market Dominance: Launch targeted localized campaigns, seasonal promotions, and loyalty programs to outpace regional competitors.
- Assortment Strategy: Monitor localized demographic trends and customer buying patterns to optimize product availability.
2. Operational Precision & P&L Ownership
- Financial Stewardship: Manage multi-million dollar annual store budgets, CapEx, resource allocations, and gross margins.
- Bottom-Line Protection: Balance commercial targets with disciplined cost-controls and strict expense management.
- Loss Prevention: Implement institutionalized risk-mitigation frameworks to control store shrinkage, theft, and inventory damage.
- SOP Enforcement: Maintain absolute daily compliance with corporate retail SOPs, cash-handling safety protocols, and audits.
3. Supply Chain & Advanced Inventory Governance
- Vendor Ecosystems: Lead high-level regional vendor negotiations and commercial contract management to improve margins.
- Freshness Protocols: Enforce strict inventory governance using automated FIFO/FEFO workflows across high-velocity FMCG goods.
- Demand Forecasting: Oversee end-to-end category management to eliminate stockouts while minimizing overstocking.
- Logistics Alignment: Coordinate closely with central distribution centers to streamline cross-docking and delivery timelines.
4. Leadership & Talent Transformation
- Structure: Manage a multi-tiered workforce, including Assistant Managers, Department Heads, and large floor teams.
- Cross-Training: Build an agile team by systematically cross-training staff in both front-end sales and back-end operations.
- Performance Culture: Standardize institutional KPIs, conduct rigorous appraisals, and drive succession planning.
- Compliance: Ensure pristine adherence to state-specific labor laws, safety compliance, and corporate governance.
Qualifications
- Experience: 15 to 20 years of progressive, verifiable management experience in large-scale FMCG retail ecosystems or hypermarkets (minimum 5+ years in flagship or multi-unit leadership).
- Skill Mix: Proven background balancing front-end commercial targets with back-end supply chain, logistics, and compliance infrastructure.
- Education: MBA or Postgraduate Degree in Retail Management, Business Administration, or an equivalent field.
- Technical Mastery: High proficiency with enterprise retail ERPs (SAP Retail, Oracle Retail), integrated POS workflows, and predictive analytics tools.
- Financial Acumen: Advanced knowledge of retail mathematics, P&L engineering, and working capital optimization.
