Senior SQL Database Administrator

• We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Database Administrator (DBA) to manage and support mission-critical backend systems across multiple business verticals.
• The ideal candidate should possess strong expertise in MySQL and PostgreSQL database administration, Linux systems, Apache SOLR, and cloud platforms (AWS).
• The role requires hands-on production support experience, 24x7 on-call availability, SLA ownership, and a proactive approach toward performance optimization, high availability, and system reliability.
• The candidate would be responsible for managing Development, QA, COLO, DR, and Production environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer, configure, and manage MySQL clusters and PostgreSQL databases in production and non-production environments
• Install, configure, and support Apache SOLR search platforms
• Support internal and external projects including infrastructure setup, upgrades, migrations, and enhancements
• Ensure high availability (HA), performance, and reliability of database systems Diagnose and resolve production issues within defined SLAs
• Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for recurring incidents and implement permanent corrective actions
• Proactively monitor systems and mitigate potential risks before business impact Design, implement, audit, and validate backup and disaster recovery strategies (including regular recovery testing)
• Perform performance monitoring, tuning, query optimization, and capacity planning
• Execute change management activities following organizational policies
• Collaborate with Development, Security, DevOps, and Operations teams Ensure compliance with security standards and best practices Automate routine operational tasks using shell scripting or relevant tools
• Provide 24x7 on-call support Drive AI-driven automation initiatives and continuous operational improvements
• Work collaboratively with the team members when required and train others.

Skill & Competencies

• Strong troubleshooting expertise on Linux platforms (OS, logs, performance analysis, shell scripting)
• Hands-on experience in MySQL clustering and PostgreSQL administration Strong understanding of new tools configuration
• Proficiency in database design, schema management, indexing strategies, and query optimization Experience with monitoring, logging, and alerting tools
• Knowledge of backup, replication, and disaster recovery methodologies Experience managing cloud-based database services such as AWS RDS (or equivalent cloud database service)
• Good understanding of NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, Cassandra Experience with data warehouse environments
• Solid experience in production database support management
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills in complex production environments

Education & Experience

• BE / B.Tech / ME / M.Tech or equivalent qualification
• 5-7 years of relevant experience in database administration (preferably in production environments) Added Advantage.
