1. Job Purpose

We are seeking a skilled Developer with 5+ years of experience and a strong interest in DevOps, cloud, and application programming. The ideal candidate should understand backend technologies and frameworks. This role will require interaction across all relevant sites.

1. Core Responsibilities

• Develop, and maintain high-quality, scalable backend solutions for our financial applications, using modern technologies and frameworks
• Develop Java Webservices and components according to a detailed design document.
• Build efficient, reusable, and reliable Java code per industry best practices.
• Follow the TDD approach and ensure unit-test coverage meets quality requirements.
• Develop Integration tests to ensure coding adheres to acceptance criteria and verify the end-to-end behaviour of the system.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, develop solutions, and ensure the timely delivery of projects
• Integrate and optimize backend components with front-end user interfaces for seamless user experience
• Work with cloud platforms, specifically Azure, to architect, deploy, and manage applications
• Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to continuously improve the team's capabilities and the overall software development process
• Ensure code is well-documented and adheres to established coding standards
• Assist in mentoring and guiding junior developers
• Ensure robust root cause analysis (RCA) and preventative actions are implemented.
• Work within the assigned Value Stream, collaborating with Product Owners, Engineers, and Business stakeholders.
• Support continuous delivery, ensuring operational readiness for releases.
• Drive a culture of service improvement and innovation.

1. Experience Requirements

• 5+ years’ experience as a developer working within Financial Services or Banking is desirable but not essential

1. Knowledge Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
• 5+ years of experience in development, including experience with languages and frameworks such as Java.
• Good to have experience developing in Java's latest version (the last version is 8).
• Good to have experience in development using Microservice architecture.
• Solid knowledge of OOP concepts, and design principles/patterns for developing scalable applications.
• Should have experience developing Spring Boot applications.
• Good to have experience developing database access layers using Spring Data JPA/Hibernates.
• Good to have experience in developing REST Services using Spring.
• Good working experience in the development of event-driven systems using any framework.
• Good to have experience with any RDBMS and at least one NoSQL database preferably PostgresSQL and Mongo DB.
• Must have experience writing unit and integration tests using JUnit.
• Good to have experience using mock frameworks like Mockito, and WireMock.
• Must have experience using Git.
• Must have experience with CI / CD.
• Basic hands-on experience in one of the cloud providers (AWS/Azure) or at least Docker and Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with build tools Maven or Gradle.
• Strong understanding of automation testing frameworks and best practices
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work well in a team-oriented environment
• Demonstrated passion for continuous learning and staying up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies
• Adept at working in an Agile development environment and managing tasks effectively
• Comfortable with version control systems such as Git
• Nice to have : nCino, Mambu
