Qualification:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent.
- Additional certification in Supply Chain Management or Procurement will be an advantage.
Job Summary
We are looking for a highly motivated Senior Engineer Purchase to manage the procurement of engineering materials, components, and services. The role involves vendor development, strategic sourcing, cost optimization, negotiation, and ensuring timely procurement to support uninterrupted production and project execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end procurement of engineering raw materials, bought-out components, fabricated parts, electrical items, and consumables.
- Source and develop new vendors to improve quality, cost competitiveness, and delivery performance.
- Float RFQs, evaluate quotations, conduct techno-commercial comparisons, and finalize suppliers.
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules, and annual rate contracts with suppliers.
- Prepare and release Purchase Orders (POs) in accordance with company policies.
- Coordinate with Production, Planning, Design, Quality, and Stores for procurement planning and material availability.
- Track purchase orders and ensure timely deliveries to avoid production interruptions.
- Monitor supplier performance based on Quality, Cost, Delivery, and Service (QCDS).
- Resolve supplier-related issues concerning quality, shortages, delays, and commercial disputes.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities through value engineering, alternate sourcing, and localization.
- Maintain procurement records, supplier databases, and purchasing reports.
- Ensure compliance with ISO standards and internal procurement procedures.
- Support inventory optimization by balancing stock availability and inventory carrying costs.
- Participate in supplier audits and periodic performance reviews.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of procurement processes and supply chain management.
- Excellent negotiation and vendor management skills.
- Knowledge of engineering drawings, BOMs, and manufacturing processes.
- Familiarity with raw materials such as sheet metal, steel, castings, forgings, machined parts, electrical components, motors, bearings, fasteners, and industrial hardware.
- Understanding of ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, Tally, or similar).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and procurement reporting.
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
