Location: Matar (Vadodara), India (with international travel as required)

Role Objective

The Senior Procurement Manager is responsible for the strategic sourcing, technical evaluation, and acquisition of specialized machinery for a Lithium-ion cell production line (LFP/NMC) and BESS assembly plant. The role requires managing high-value CAPEX projects from vendor selection to final Site Acceptance Testing (SAT).


Key Responsibilities

  • CAPEX Procurement: Lead the end-to-end procurement process for electrode coating lines, Calendering, slitting, cell assembly (winding/stacking), and formation/grading equipment.
  • BESS Sourcing: Manage the acquisition of components for BESS integration, including PCS (Inverters), BMS, thermal management systems, and containerized housing.
  • Technical Vendor Management: Identify and audit Tier-1 global OEMs (primarily from China, Korea, and Europe). Conduct technical due diligence to ensure machinery meets specific throughput and safety standards.
  • Contractual Excellence: Negotiate complex commercial terms, including TCO (Total Cost of Ownership), performance guarantees, spare parts packages, and post-warranty service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with the Engineering team to ensure equipment specifications align with the 314Ah LFP prismatic cell production requirements.
  • Logistics & Compliance: Oversee international shipping, customs clearance for heavy machinery, and compliance with Indian industrial regulations.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum 15 years in industrial procurement or supply chain management.
  • Industry Expertise (Major Advantage): Direct experience in Cell Manufacturing (dry room equipment, chemical processing) and BESS (Battery Energy Storage Systems) is highly preferred.
  • Academic Background (Advantage): Bachelors or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Chemical Engineering. An MBA in Supply Chain Management is a plus.
  • Skills: Expertise in SAP/ERP systems, advanced negotiation techniques, and project management (Agile/Lean).
  • Languages: Native-level English (Mandatory).
