Job Description
- Release & Deployment Automation
- Design and operate CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins) for multi stage deployments (dev/test/stage/prod).
- Implement blue/green, canary, and rolling strategies; achieve zero downtime deployments for web and Java services.
- Standardize artifact management (Maven/Gradle, Nexus/Artifactory) and environment promotion with approvals & rollback plans.
- Web Tier (NGINX)
- Configure NGINX as reverse proxy, TLS termination, HTTP/2, load balancing, health checks, rate limiting, and WAF integration.
- Optimize with caching, compression, connection tuning, and keepalive; manage Let s Encrypt/ACME automation.
- Create reusable server blocks, upstreams, and ingress rules (for Kubernetes ingress NGINX where applicable).
- App Tier (Apache Tomcat)
- Provision and tune Tomcat (server.xml, thread pools, connection pools, GC tuning, JMX, AJP security).
- Standardize deployments (WAR/EAR, context paths, Catalina base separation, logback/log4j configs).
- Instrument applications for APM (e.g., New Relic/AppDynamics/Datadog) and JFR/JMX metrics; implement graceful shutdown.
- Hybrid Infrastructure
- Manage on prem Linux servers and cloud (AWS/Azure/GCP) workloads; integrate VPN/PrivateLink/VNet peering.
- Use Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible) for repeatable provisioning; maintain configuration management and secrets (Vault/SSM/Key Vault).
- Containerize services with Docker; orchestrate with Kubernetes (deployments, services, ingress, HPA).
- Observability, Reliability & Security
- Build monitoring/logging (Prometheus/Grafana, ELK/Opensearch); define SLOs/SLIs and actionable alerts.
- Lead incident response, root cause analysis, and postmortems; enforce backup/DR, RTO/RPO objectives.
- Apply security baselines: TLS best practices, headers (HSTS, CSP), OWASP controls, dependency scanning, and least privilege access.
- Collaboration & Leadership
- Partner with dev teams on release readiness, performance testing, and capacity planning.
- Mentor engineers; document runbooks, playbooks, and architectural patterns; drive DevOps best practices.
