Job Summary
The role Youre a strong frontend engineer first, someone who cares about architecture, tooling, and test quality, who has built and shipped on Shopify and can bring that depth to our commerce work.
Responsibilities
- Build performant, accessible, maintainable UIs with modern JS/TS and React.
- Own frontend architecture: component design, state management, build tooling, and CI.
- Write and champion automated tests (unit, component, and integration) as a default, not an afterthought.
- Set and uphold code standards; review PRs and mentor mid/junior engineers.
- Own Core Web Vitals and performance budgets on the experiences you ship.
- Apply your frontend depth to Shopify storefronts, both headless (Hydrogen/Next.js + Storefront API) and custom themes (Liquid, Online Store 2.0), plus extensions where needed.
- Drive AI-assisted delivery, using coding agents to accelerate scaffolding, testing, and review without compromising quality.
Requirements
- 8+ years building production frontends; strong JS/TS, React, and modern CSS.
- Deep with frontend tooling: bundlers (Vite/webpack), package management, linting/formatting, CI pipelines.
- Strong testing discipline: Vitest/Jest, React Testing Library, Playwright or similar.
- Solid grasp of web performance, accessibility, and browser fundamentals.
- Hands-on Shopify experience across themes and headless, applied as a frontend engineer.
- Shopify Plus, B2B, and international (Markets) experience; Shopify Functions/extensions.
- Comfortable working with AI dev tools (Claude Code, Copilot, Cursor) in daily workflow.
Qualifications
- Nice to have Eager to get into full stack development (Node, Python, or similar): APIs, serverless functions, integrations.
- Design systems / component library contributions.
