Job Description
- Position Overview The Cell Maintenance Engineer is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation, reliability, and uptime of all cell manufacturing equipment. The role includes preventive and breakdown maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical/electrical issues, coordinating with production teams, and implementing improvements to minimize downtime and enhance equipment performance.Key Responsibilities Equipment Maintenance
- Perform preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance of cell manufacturing machines (coating, slitting, calendaring, winding, notching, assembly, formation grading, etc.).
- Conduct routine inspections to ensure machines are in optimal working condition.
- Maintain maintenance logs and machine history records.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues in production equipment.
- Repair equipment with minimum downtime to ensure continuous production.
- Support calibration and testing of machine components.
- Identify recurring failures and implement permanent corrective actions.
- Suggest and execute modifications to improve equipment efficiency and reliability.
- Work with the Process Engineering team to enhance machine performance.
- Monitor critical spare parts, tools, and consumables.
- Ensure availability of spares to avoid production delays.
- Coordinate with the purchase team for spare procurement.
- Maintain records such as PM checklists, breakdown reports, and equipment manuals.
- Follow maintenance SOPs, safety guidelines, and industry standards.
- Support internal and external audits (ISO/IATF where applicable).
- Work closely with production and quality teams to resolve equipment-related issues.
- Support installation, commissioning, and testing of new equipment.
- Train operators on basic machine handling and checks.
- Ensure all maintenance activities follow EHS (Environment, Health Safety) procedures.
- Report safety incidents, near misses, and take corrective measures.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems.
- Hands-on experience with PLCs, sensors, motors, drives, and automation systems.
- Problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and electrical schematics.
- Familiarity with maintenance tools and diagnostic equipment.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Diploma/Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, or Mechatronics Engineering.
- 2-6 years of experience in equipment maintenance (preferably in battery cell manufacturing, electronics, automotive, or similar industries).
- Knowledge of PLC, SCADA, robotics, and automation is an added advantage.
- Manufacturing plant/production floor.
- May involve shift duties based on production schedules.
- Requires frequent interaction with equipment and tools.
