Role: Sr. Embedded Software Engineer - Automotive ECU

Experience: 5 10 Years

Role Overview


We are looking for a Sr. Embedded Software Engineer with strong experience in Embedded C, Microcontrollers, RTOS, BSP, Device Drivers, Board Bring-up, and ECU Software Integration to work on BMW automotive ECU platforms.


The role involves developing and integrating low-level embedded software, bringing up new hardware platforms, developing device drivers, integrating RTOS and communication stacks, and supporting ECU software development and debugging.


Key Responsibilities


  • Perform Microcontroller and Board Bring-up activities.
  • Develop and integrate MCAL, ECAL, HAL, Device Drivers and Bootloaders.
  • Develop Startup Code and Platform Initialization software.
  • Configure and work with Interrupt, Memory Management and Memory Mapping.
  • Integrate embedded software on new automotive ECU hardware platforms.
  • Support RTOS integration, ECU integration and software debugging.
  • Develop and maintain drivers for:
    • CAN / LIN / Ethernet
    • SPI / I2C / UART
    • ADC / PWM / GPIO / DMA
  • Perform software and hardware-level debugging using embedded debuggers.
  • Contribute to Build Automation, Build Scripts and CI/CD infrastructure.
  • Support Software Configuration and Release Management.
  • Create technical/design documentation and participate in software reviews.
  • Support ASPICE, Functional Safety and Cybersecurity activities.
  • Collaborate with Hardware, System, Software and Testing teams.

Mandatory Skills


  • Strong hands-on experience in Embedded C.
  • Experience in BSP Development and Board Bring-up.
  • Strong knowledge of Microcontrollers and Embedded Systems.
  • Experience with MCAL / HAL / Device Driver Development.
  • Experience in RTOS-based embedded development.
  • Experience with Bootloader Development.
  • Hands-on experience with CAN, LIN and/or Automotive Ethernet.
  • Experience with SPI, I2C, UART, ADC, PWM, GPIO or DMA.
  • Experience with automotive microcontrollers such as:
    • Infineon AURIX
    • NXP S32
    • Renesas RH850
    • ST Microcontrollers
  • Working knowledge of Linker Scripts, Memory Mapping and Startup Code.
  • Good understanding of Build Systems, Debuggers and Git.

  • C++ programming.
  • Python scripting.
  • CI/CD and build automation.
  • Automotive ASPICE / ISO 26262.
  • Functional Safety and Cybersecurity concepts.
  • Agile Scrum / Kanban methodology.
