Job Description
Designation: SDET I
Office Location: Gurgaon
Job Summary
Position Description: As an SDET I, you will play a vital role in automation and quality validation for our real-time bidding (RTB) exchange platform, its web-facing integrations, and SDK connectivity across the ad-tech stack. This role is central to ensuring reliability, data accuracy, and performance across bid processing, exchange-to-SSP/MMP integrations, and the web layer that surfaces this data to internal and partner stakeholders. The role carries a primary automation mandate (80%) with a smaller manual testing component (20%) for exploratory, ad-hoc, and release-validation scenarios that automation does not yet cover.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain automated test suites for web-based features covering RTB bid flows, exchange configuration screens, and SDK-integration touchpoints.
- Validate end-to-end data flow across the RTB pipeline - bid request/response, win/loss notification, and reporting reconciliation.
- Build and maintain integration test coverage for SSP (Supply-Side Platform) and MMP (Mobile Measurement Partner) connections, verifying request/response contracts, attribution data accuracy, and postback reliability.
- Write data validation and monitoring scripts to continuously verify data integrity across Kafka topics, exchange logs, and downstream reporting systems.
- Configure and interpret monitoring dashboards in Datadog and Grafana to proactively detect anomalies in latency, error rates, throughput, and data pipeline health.
- Collaborate with backend/RTB engineering teams to understand event schemas and Kafka topic structures, translating these into automated data-quality checks.
- Execute manual/exploratory testing (20% allocation) for new feature releases, edge cases, and scenarios not yet covered by automation - particularly around new
- SSP/MMP onboarding or exchange configuration changes.
- Triage and document defects with clear reproduction steps, working closely with development and DevOps teams through to resolution.
- Contribute to CI/CD integration of automated test suites, ensuring tests run reliably as part of the deployment pipeline.
- Maintain test documentation, coverage reports, and release-readiness checklists for stakeholder visibility.
Work Allocation
This role is structured with the following split between automation and manual testing responsibilities:
- Automation Testing (80%): Building, maintaining, and scaling automated test coverage across RTB, exchange, and SDK-web integration features; data validation/monitoring script development; CI/CD test integration.
- Manual Testing (20%): Exploratory testing for new releases, edge-case validation, SSP/MMP onboarding checks, and scenarios requiring human judgment ahead of automating them.
Required Skills/Expertise
- 3-4 years of QA experience with a strong focus on test automation for web applications.
- Proficient in test automation frameworks for web (e.g., Selenium, Playwright, or Cypress) with hands-on scripting ability (Python, JavaScript, or Java).
- Working knowledge of Apache Kafka - understanding of topics, consumers/producers, and how to validate data flowing through streaming pipelines.
- Prior exposure to GenAI-assisted test generation or self-healing automation frameworks.
- Hands-on experience with Datadog and Grafana for monitoring, dashboarding, and alert-driven test validation.
- Strong understanding of the Ad.Tech domain (min. 1 year Exp.) - RTB/OpenRTB protocol, ad exchanges, programmatic bidding workflows, and the broader supply/demand ecosystem.
- Prior experience testing or integrating with SSPs, MMPs, DSPs, or similar ad-tech third parties - validating request/response contracts, tracking pixels, postbacks, and attribution data.
- Proficiency in writing data validation and monitoring scripts (SQL, Python, or similar) to verify data accuracy across pipelines and reports.
- Solid API testing skills (Postman, RestAssured, or equivalent) for backend and exchange-layer validation.
- Experience with version control (Git) and CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or similar).
- Strong analytical and debugging skills with the ability to trace issues across distributed systems.
