Sap Tm Functional Consultant

Your Responsibilities

Engage with business stakeholders to define transportation processes and integration models.
Configure and implement SAP S/4HANA Embedded TM with BN4L scenarios.
EDI & Carrier Integration (Key Focus Area)

Design and implement EDI-based integration with external carriers where:
Carriers perform transportation planning, carrier assignment, and execution in their own systems
SAP S/4HANA receives execution updates and events via EDI messages
Enable inbound and outbound EDI flows such as:
Shipment creation / updates
Status updates (pickup, in-transit, delivery, delays)
Proof of Delivery (POD)
Freight cost updates
Configure SAP TM to consume and process carrier events:
Event management triggers
Status updates on Freight Orders / Deliveries
Exception handling workflows
Collaborate with middleware teams (CPI/PI/PO) to ensure seamless EDI message processing (IDocs, XML, APIs)
Ensure near real-time visibility of carrier execution within SAP TM
Core TM Responsibilities

Configure and manage:
Freight Units (FU), Freight Orders (FO)
Transportation Cockpit
Charge Management & Settlement
Support BN4L (Basic Shipping) and its integration with TM
Integrate SAP TM with:
SAP SD/MM (delivery-based processes)
SAP EWM
External GIS systems for:
Route determination
Distance & transit time calculation
Optimize transportation planning and execution processes using GIS inputs

Your Experience & Skills

Strong expertise in:
S/4HANA Embedded TM
BN4L (Basic Shipping)
EDI / Integration Expertise (Critical)

Proven experience in EDI integration with carriers or 3PL systems
Strong understanding of:
EDI standards (EDIFACT, ANSI X12)
Shipment and status message flows
Event-driven architecture
Experience in:
Inbound event handling in SAP TM
Mapping carrier execution events to SAP documents
Middleware integration (CPI / PI / PO / APIs / IDocs)
Functional TM Expertise

Deep knowledge of:
Freight lifecycle (FU FO Execution Settlement)
Charge calculation & freight costing
Carrier collaboration scenarios
Experience with GIS-based route determination systems
Strong understanding of:
Locations, geo-coordinates, transportation zones
External route optimization integration

Experience in:
Carrier-managed transportation models (outsourced execution)
SAP Event Management / GTT
Exposure to:
Real-time tracking and visibility platforms
