Job Description

Role & responsibilities


  • Ensure compliance with the Factories Act, Maharashtra Factories Rules, and all applicable EHS regulations.
  • Conduct daily safety inspections and identify unsafe acts and unsafe conditions.
  • Implement and monitor the company's EHS policies, procedures, and safe work practices.
  • Conduct safety induction and periodic training for employees, contractors, and visitors.
  • Organize mock drills for fire, emergency response, and evacuation as per the emergency preparedness plan.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Ensure proper usage of PPE and monitor compliance across all departments.
  • Carry out risk assessments (HIRA/JSA) and recommend appropriate control measures.
  • Monitor contractor safety compliance and issue work permits for high-risk activities.
  • Ensure statutory inspections and maintenance of fire protection systems, emergency equipment, and safety devices.
  • Maintain all statutory safety records, registers, reports, and legal documentation.
  • Coordinate internal, customer, and statutory EHS audits and ensure timely closure of observations.
  • Promote a strong safety culture through awareness campaigns, toolbox talks, and safety committee meetings.
  • Monitor hazardous waste handling, chemical storage, and environmental compliance.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to achieve zero accidents and improve overall safety performance.


Preferred candidate profile


  • Diploma/Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Production, or related field).
  • Mandatory Advanced Diploma/Post Diploma in Industrial Safety (ADIS/PDIS) from a recognized institute.
  • 38 years of experience as a Safety Officer in an automotive or manufacturing industry.
  • Sound knowledge of the Factories Act, Maharashtra Factories Rules, Occupational Safety, Health & Working Conditions (OSH) Code, and other applicable EHS regulations.
  • Experience in conducting HIRA, JSA, incident investigations, emergency response planning, and mock drills.
  • Familiarity with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.
  • Experience in handling customer EHS audits and statutory inspections.
  • Good knowledge of fire protection systems, electrical safety, machine guarding, LOTO, confined space, work at height, and hot work permit systems.
  • Strong communication, training, analytical, and leadership skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office and preparation of statutory reports and EHS documentation.
  • Experience in an automotive sheet metal manufacturing plant will be preferred.
