Job Description

Role & responsibilities


  • Lead the Safety Team of 30 members from the client side as the client and manage all Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) activities across the thermal power plant construction project.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor HSE policies, procedures, and site-specific safety plans.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, client safety standards, and company HSE policies.
  • Conduct Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment (HIRA/JSA) for all critical construction activities.
  • Monitor high-risk activities such as work at height, lifting operations, confined space entry, hot work, excavation, and electrical works.
  • Establish and administer Permit-to-Work (PTW) systems for all hazardous activities.
  • Lead incident/accident investigations, identify root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Conduct regular site safety inspections, audits, and compliance assessments.
  • Organize safety induction programs, toolbox talks, awareness campaigns, and specialized safety training.
  • Ensure availability and proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) by all personnel.
  • Develop and implement Emergency Response Plans (ERP), conduct mock drills, and coordinate emergency preparedness activities.
  • Monitor contractor and subcontractor HSE performance and ensure compliance with project requirements.
  • Review lifting plans, method statements, risk assessments, and work procedures before execution.
  • Maintain HSE records, reports, statistics, and documentation as per client and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate with client representatives, project management teams, and regulatory authorities on HSE matters.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture and drive continuous improvement initiatives to achieve zero accidents.
  • Monitor environmental aspects including waste management, dust control, noise control, and pollution prevention measures.
  • Prepare monthly HSE performance reports and present key safety metrics to project management.
  • Lead a team of Safety Officers, Safety Supervisors, and HSE Engineers to ensure effective site safety management.

Education Qualification


  • Academic Qualification:
    B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Civil, or Electrical Engineering from a recognized university.
  • Professional Qualification:
    ADIS/PDIS from RLI/CLI or M.E./M.Tech in Industrial Safety from a recognized institution.
