About the Role
One of the Big 4s is looking for experienced US Tax professionals for the role of 1040 Reviewer to support individual tax compliance engagements for US clients. The ideal candidate should possess strong technical expertise in reviewing Form 1040 returns, identifying tax adjustments, ensuring compliance accuracy, and mentoring preparers during busy seasons.

Key Responsibilities
- Review US Individual Tax Returns (Form 1040) and related schedules prepared by associates and preparers.
- Ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with US tax regulations and internal quality standards.
- Review complex tax scenarios involving investments, foreign reporting, K-1s, stock compensation, and multi-state filings.
- Identify errors, missing information, tax adjustments, and compliance risks before final submission.
- Provide technical guidance and feedback to preparers and junior team members.
- Handle escalations and resolve tax-related queries with internal stakeholders.
- Review workpapers, supporting documentation, and tax calculations.
- Ensure timely completion of engagements during busy season while maintaining quality standards.
- Coordinate with managers and cross-functional teams for workflow management and client deliverables.
- Stay updated on changes in US tax laws, compliance requirements, and filing procedures.
- Contribute to process improvements, training initiatives, and quality enhancement projects.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience in US Taxation with strong expertise in 1040 review.
- Strong understanding of US Individual Taxation concepts and compliance requirements.
- Experience reviewing complex tax returns and handling high-volume engagements.
- Hands-on experience with tax software such as GoSystem, CCH Axcess, UltraTax, ProSeries, or similar tools.
- Strong analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience mentoring or guiding junior associates/preparers.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work effectively under strict deadlines during busy seasons.
- Strong attention to detail and quality-oriented approach.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA / EA pursuing or completed candidates preferred.
- Experience handling HNI clients and complex tax structures preferred.
- Exposure to expatriate taxation, foreign reporting, and multi-state filings will be an added advantage.
