Job Description

Role & responsibilities

We are looking for a 3D Tool Designer / Reverse Engineering Engineer with hands-on experience in 3D scanning data processing, reverse engineering, mesh-to-CAD conversion, surface modeling, and deviation analysis. The candidate will be responsible for converting physical components and scan data into accurate, editable CAD models and supporting product/tool development activities.

Preferred candidate profile

  • Convert STL/mesh scan data into parametric CAD models using STEP/IGES and other suitable formats.
  • Process, clean, align, and prepare 3D scanning data for reverse engineering.
  • Develop accurate 3D CAD models and surface models from scanned components.
  • Perform surface modeling and Class-A/complex surfacing as required.
  • Conduct deviation analysis between the original STL/scan data and CAD model to verify dimensional accuracy.
  • Operate and support 3D scanning equipment for capturing physical component geometry.
  • Measure physical parts using Vernier Caliper, Micrometer, and other precision measuring instruments.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and understand component dimensions, tolerances, and geometrical requirements.
  • Prepare and modify CAD models based on physical part measurements and scan data.
  • Coordinate with Design, Production, Tooling, Quality, and Engineering teams for model development and corrections.
  • Maintain proper documentation of scan data, CAD models, revisions, and engineering changes.

  • Strong knowledge of Reverse Engineering and 3D Scan Data Processing.
  • Hands-on experience in Mesh-to-CAD conversion.
  • Good working knowledge of SolidWorks and/or Siemens NX10.
  • Knowledge of surface modeling and deviation analysis.
  • Understanding of STL, STEP, IGES and parametric CAD formats.
  • Basic knowledge of 3D scanning and scan-data cleaning.
  • Ability to take and interpret measurements using Vernier Caliper and Micrometer.
  • Good understanding of mechanical components, dimensions, tolerances, and engineering drawings.
