Job Description Radiation Safety Officer (RSO)


Position: Radiation Safety Officer (RSO)
Location: Trichy (Tamil Nadu) / Sangareddy (Telangana)

Experience: Minimum 2 Years
Qualification: B.Sc. (Science) / Engineering Degree
Mandatory Certification: BARC Level II Certification


Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure safe handling, operation, storage, and regulatory compliance of industrial X-ray equipment and radioactive sources used in the manufacturing plant.
  • Ensure compliance with AERB regulations and all statutory requirements related to radiation safety.
  • Perform routine radiation surveys, area monitoring, leak tests, personnel exposure monitoring, and maintain radiation records.
  • Manage all regulatory activities through the AERB eLORA portal, including licensing, renewals, amendments, source inventory management, and statutory submissions.
  • Oversee installation, commissioning, operation, maintenance, and periodic safety checks of industrial X-ray systems.
  • Coordinate calibration and maintenance of radiation monitoring instruments and X-ray equipment.
  • Maintain statutory records, licenses, radiation safety documentation, and audit reports.
  • Conduct radiation safety training and awareness programs for employees and contractors.
  • Investigate radiation-related incidents and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Liaise with AERB and other regulatory authorities during inspections and compliance audits.

Requirements

  • B.Sc. (Science) or Engineering Degree.
  • BARC Level II Certification – Mandatory.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Radiation Safety Officer in a manufacturing plant.
  • Hands-on experience in handling industrial X-ray equipment, including operation, radiation safety, troubleshooting, and regulatory compliance.
  • Hands-on experience with the AERB eLORA portal for licensing, approvals, renewals, and statutory documentation.
  • Strong knowledge of AERB regulations, radiation protection principles, and statutory compliance.
  • Good communication, documentation, and coordination skills.
