Key Responsibilities
1. Quality Operations & Process Control
In-Process & Final Inspection: Monitor and manage the inspection of raw materials (e.g., paperboard, corrugated sheets, adhesives, inks) and finished products to ensure alignment with approved specifications.
Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs): Develop, implement, and update QC testing procedures, work instructions, and quality checklists.
Defect Management: Identify, segregate, and analyze non-conforming materials or products. Lead troubleshooting efforts for structural or aesthetic defects (e.g., alignment issues, V-mitering flaws, lamination bubbles, color mismatches).
2. Team Leadership & Shop Floor Management
Supervise, train, and mentor a team of QC engineers, supervisors, and line inspectors across shifts.
Allocate manpower effectively to support production schedules while ensuring no compromise on quality checkpoints.
Evaluate team performance and drive a culture of "Quality First" across the manufacturing floor.
3. Supplier & Customer Quality Management
Customer Liaison: Act as a key point of contact for customer quality concerns. Lead the investigation of customer complaints and coordinate response groups to resolve cross-functional quality issues.
CAPA Implementation: Conduct rigorous root-cause analysis (using 8D, 5-Why, or Fishbone diagrams) and implement robust Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
Supplier Audits: Collaborate with the procurement team to evaluate vendor quality performance and conduct regular supplier audits.
4. Documentation, Audits & Auditing Compliance
Maintain meticulous quality records, certificates of analysis (COA), and Daily/Weekly/Monthly Quality Reports for executive review.
Ensure readiness for external customer audits, ISO certifications, and regulatory inspections.
Track and present key quality metrics such as Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ), Defect Parts Per Million (PPM), and First Time Right (FTR) rates.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Education: Bachelors Degree / Diploma in Printing Technology, Packaging Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
Experience: 5 to 8 years of core experience in Quality Control within a manufacturing setup, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or team-lead role. (Experience in high-end rigid boxes, corrugated packaging, or consumer electronics packaging is highly preferred).
Technical Competencies:
Deep understanding of testing equipment (e.g., Bursting Strength testers, GSM scales, Cobb testers, spectrophotometers for color matching).
Strong knowledge of quality tools (7 QC Tools, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen).
Familiarity with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and BRC standards.
Soft Skills:
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to manage cross-functional teams and external client relationships.
Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint) for compiling data-driven reports and performance presentations.
