Quality Release Engineer

As a Senior Quality Release Engineer in the consulting sector, you will take on a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless deployment and stability of our digital banking platform. This position demands an individual who can transcend traditional testing, focusing on empowering software engineers and overseeing a comprehensive quality strategy.

Description

- 5+ years of experience in Quality Engineering, Release Engineering, or DevOps, preferably within the financial sector or enterprise software (fintech).
- Proficient in reading, reviewing, and contributing to code in languages such as Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Kotlin, Swift, and Python.
- Strong experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins and GitHub Actions, with expertise in pipeline configuration.
- Professional working proficiency in English; additional language skills are advantageous.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and coach development teams, fostering a culture of quality assurance and shared responsibility.
- Experience implementing shift-left testing methodologies and defining comprehensive Quality & Testing Strategies.
- Familiarity with the functional complexities of digital banking platforms and managing dependencies between different banking capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

- Oversee the overall quality and stability of product releases, ensuring timely deployments and high success rates as measured by DORA metrics and Defect Escape Rate.
- Unblock development squads by troubleshooting infrastructure or configuration issues, ensuring smooth operation of release pipelines.
- Own the defect management process, reviewing automated regression results and managing defects from exploratory and manual testing for complex scenarios.
- Treat pipeline configuration and test infrastructure as code, ensuring reproducibility, cleanliness, and documentation of test environments.
- Enforce strict quality gates in the CI/CD pipeline, preventing code merges unless all unit, integration, and system tests are passed.
- Collaborate with Squad Leads and Business Analysts to define the 'Definition of Done' and project's Test Strategy, acting as the 'Quality Conscience' of the squad.
- Communicate potential risks and quality concerns to decision-makers using test evidence and defect metrics, advocating for customer-centric quality standards.
- Drive the adoption of automated release orchestration, reducing manual interventions and promoting automated compliance checks.
