Job Description

Role & responsibilities

  • Inspect incoming raw materials, forgings, castings, gears, shafts, bearings, seals, and purchased components.
  • Verify material certificates, dimensions, and specifications.
  • Coordinate with suppliers regarding quality issues.
  • Maintain incoming inspection records.
  • Conduct stage-wise inspections during machining, gear cutting, heat treatment, grinding, assembly, and testing.
  • Verify adherence to control plans, work instructions, and quality standards.
  • Monitor critical process parameters.
  • Identify and report non-conforming products.
  • Perform dimensional, visual, functional, and performance inspections of assembled gearboxes.
  • Verify inspection reports before dispatch.
  • Ensure customer specifications are fully met.
  • Approve finished products for shipment.
  • Use precision measuring instruments including:
  • Vernier Caliper
  • Micrometer
  • Bore Gauge
  • Dial Indicator
  • Height Gauge
  • Surface Roughness Tester
  • Gear Tooth Vernier
  • Runout Measurement Equipment
  • Ensure calibration status of measuring instruments.
  • Prepare and maintain:
  • Inspection Reports
  • First Article Inspection (FAI) Reports
  • Process Inspection Records
  • Final Inspection Reports
  • Non-Conformance Reports (NCR)
  • Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) Reports
  • Customer Complaint Reports
  • Quality Dashboards
  • Perform Root Cause Analysis using:
  • 5 Why Analysis
  • Fishbone Diagram
  • Pareto Analysis
  • 8D Methodology
  • Implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Participate in Kaizen and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Reduce rejection and rework through process improvements.
  • 2-5 years of experience in quality engineering within a gearbox, transmission, automotive, precision machining, or heavy engineering manufacturing environment.

  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and GD&T.
  • Knowledge of gear manufacturing processes.
  • Understanding of machining operations, heat treatment, grinding, and assembly.
  • Familiarity with SPC, MSA, FMEA, APQP, PPAP, and Control Plans.
