Job Description
- Database Testing:SQL Knowledge: A QA professional in this role should be proficient in SQL (Structured Query Language) to create, execute, and validate database queries and scripts
- They use SQL to retrieve and manipulate data in the database
- Data Validation: Verify data integrity, accuracy, and consistency by comparing the data stored in the database with expected results
- This involves performing data validation tests, data migration testing, and data transformation testing
- Database Schema Testing: Ensure that the database schema (structure) is correctly designed and matches the application's requirements
- Service Testing:API Testing: Conduct testing of application programming interfaces (APIs) to ensure they work as intended
- This includes testing various API methods, input parameters, and response data
- Web Services Testing: Test web services, including SOAP and RESTful services, to validate their functionality, security, and performance
- Testers often use tools like Postman, SOAPUI, or similar tools
- Integration Testing: Verify that different software components, including services, interact correctly and exchange data seamlessly
- Load and Performance Testing: Assess the performance of services under different loads and usage scenarios to ensure they can handle traffic and requests efficiently
- Test Case Design and Execution:Develop test cases, test scripts, and test scenarios specifically tailored for SQL and service testing
- This includes both positive and negative test cases
- Execute test cases and scripts to validate that database operations and services perform as expected
- This may involve manual testing or automated testing, depending on the project's needs
- Defect Reporting and Tracking:Identify and document defects or issues found during testing
- Collaborate with development teams to resolve these issues and ensure proper tracking and resolution
- Test Automation:Implement and maintain test automation frameworks and scripts for SQL and service testing when applicable
- Automation helps ensure repeatability and efficiency in testing processes
