QA Automation Engineer / SDET 3–5 Years

Location: Bangalore, India
Experience: 3–5 Years
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled QA Automation Engineer / SDET with 3–5 years of experience in software quality assurance, test automation, and API testing. The ideal candidate should have strong programming fundamentals, hands-on experience building and maintaining automation frameworks, and a good understanding of CI/CD and Agile development practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain robust automated test scripts for web and API applications.
  • Build and enhance automation frameworks using Java/Python/JavaScript and tools such as Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, or Appium.
  • Create and execute functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end test suites.
  • Develop and execute REST API automation using tools such as REST Assured, Postman, or equivalent.
  • Analyze requirements and create comprehensive test scenarios and test cases.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and track software defects using tools such as Jira.
  • Perform root-cause analysis of automation and application failures.
  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or similar tools.
  • Work closely with developers, product managers, and other QA engineers to ensure product quality.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Maintain test documentation, automation reports, and test data.
  • Contribute to improving test coverage, automation stability, execution speed, and overall QA processes.

Required Skills

  • 3–5 years of experience in Software Testing / QA Automation / SDET roles.
  • Strong programming skills in Java, Python, or JavaScript/TypeScript.
  • Hands-on experience with Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, or similar automation tools.
  • Strong knowledge of API testing and automation, preferably REST APIs.
  • Experience with TestNG/JUnit/PyTest/Jest or equivalent testing frameworks.
  • Good understanding of SQL and database testing.
  • Experience with Git and source-control practices.
  • Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab.
  • Good understanding of SDLC, STLC, defect lifecycle, and Agile methodologies.
  • Strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to write clean, maintainable, and reusable automation code.

Good to Have

  • Experience with Docker/Kubernetes.
  • Exposure to AWS/Azure/GCP.
  • Experience with performance or load testing tools such as JMeter or k6.
  • Mobile automation experience using Appium.
  • Experience testing microservices and distributed systems.
  • Knowledge of BDD frameworks such as Cucumber.
  • Experience with test reporting and observability tools.
  • Familiarity with security testing concepts.
