Position Title: QA Automation Engineer

The Area: The Area: The Morningstar Indexes Team leverages its expertise in equity research, manager research, asset allocation, and portfolio construction to create innovative investment solutions. It uses Morningstars intellectual property to create indexes that empower investors to achieve their goals at every stage of the investment processmarket monitoring, benchmarking, and asset allocation. The unit offers a broad suite of global equity, bond, commodity and asset allocation indexes.

The Role: In this role, you will work as a QA Automation Engineer, collaborate with technology and business team to build technology solutions for Morningstar`s Indexes applications. You should have understanding of test automation frameworks and tools. You should automate existing applications, study their enterprise complexities and develop/implement better systems with modern testing automation practices.

Responsibilities

• Understand business and functional requirements and develop automated test cases based on defined scenarios.
• Execute functional, regression, integration, and automation tests to ensure product quality.
• Contribute as an individual contributor while working closely with developers, QA team members, and business stakeholders.
• Assist in maintaining and enhancing the automation framework.
• Validate APIs, databases, and UI workflows using appropriate testing tools.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, backlog refinement, and retrospectives.
• Identify, document, and track defects using Jira, and support root cause analysis and defect verification.
• Prepare and maintain test cases, automation scripts, and test execution reports.
• Continuously improve automation coverage and follow QA best practices.
• Learn and adopt new tools and technologies to improve testing efficiency.

Experience

• 2–3 years of experience in QA Automation.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  
  

Technical Skills

• Hands-on experience with Selenium using Java.
• Good understanding of Java programming and object-oriented concepts.
• Good knowledge of SQL for writing and validating database queries.
• Experience with JUnit or TestNG.
• Understanding of API testing using tools such as Postman or REST Assured.
• Basic understanding of test automation frameworks such as Page Object Model and data-driven frameworks.
• Familiarity with different automation approaches including keyword-driven, data-driven, BDD, or hybrid frameworks.
• Basic understanding of Git or other source control systems.
• Familiarity with defect tracking tools such as Jira.
  
  

Nice to Have

• Exposure to CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or GitHub Actions.
• Basic understanding of cloud-based testing environments.
• Experience with Playwright is an advantage.
• Exposure to AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, ChatGPT, or Google Gemini for code generation and productivity.
