Python Production Support Engineer

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Python Production Support Engineer with strong Python development expertise to support, maintain, and enhance critical business applications and data processing systems. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in Python application development, troubleshooting production issues, incident management, and performance optimization. Experience with Apache Spark and Data Engineering technologies is an added advantage.

The role requires a proactive individual who can work closely with development, infrastructure, and business teams to ensure application stability, reliability, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide L2/L3 production support for Python-based applications and data pipelines.
• Monitor application performance, identify issues, and perform root cause analysis.
• Troubleshoot production incidents and ensure timely resolution in accordance with SLAs.
• Develop, maintain, and enhance Python scripts, automation utilities, and application components.
• Analyze logs, system alerts, and monitoring dashboards to identify and resolve issues proactively.
• Collaborate with development teams to implement bug fixes, code enhancements, and performance improvements.
• Participate in deployment activities, release management, and post-deployment verification.
• Create and maintain operational documentation, runbooks, and knowledge base articles.
• Support batch processing, ETL workflows, and data movement processes.
• Implement automation solutions to reduce manual operational tasks.
• Participate in on-call support and incident management processes when required.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 4+ years of experience in Python development and production support.
• Strong proficiency in Python programming, scripting, and debugging.
• Experience with REST APIs, data processing frameworks, and application integration.
• Strong knowledge of SQL and relational databases such as PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server, or MySQL.
• Experience in Linux/Unix environments and Shell scripting.
• Familiarity with version control systems such as Git.
• Experience with monitoring and logging tools.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Apache Spark / PySpark development.
• Exposure to Data Engineering concepts, ETL pipelines, and large-scale data processing.
• Experience working with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.
• Knowledge of workflow orchestration tools such as Airflow.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and container technologies (Docker/Kubernetes).
• Experience supporting data analytics and reporting platforms.
