Job Description:
We are looking for a Python Desktop Automation Engineer to design, build, package, and maintain desktop automation applications. The role involves developing automation tools using Python, Playwright, and related frameworks, and packaging them as standalone desktop applications using PyInstaller.

The ideal candidate should have strong Python programming skills, experience with browser and desktop automation, and the ability to build reliable, user-friendly automation utilities for internal business workflows.


Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop desktop automation applications using Python.
  • Build automation workfows for web applications using Playwright.
  • Package Python applications into standalone executables using PyInstaller.
  • Create user-friendly desktop tools with simple interfaces for business or operations teams.
  • Automate repetitive tasks involving web portals, fille handling, data extraction, form submissions, and reporting.
  • Integrate automation tools with APIs, databases, files, and third-party systems where required.
  • Handle authentication, session management, browser contexts, downloads, uploads, and error recovery in automation workflows.
  • Implement logging, exception handling, retry mechanisms, and status reporting.
  • Optimize automation scripts for reliability, maintainability, and performance.
  • Troubleshoot issues related to packaging, browser drivers, dependencies, and runtime environments.
  • Collaborate with product, operations, QA, and engineering teams to understand automation requirements.
  • Maintain documentation for setup, usage, deployment, and troubleshooting.

Required Skills:

  • Strong hands-on experience with Python.
  • Experience building automation using Playwright.
  • Good understanding of web automation concepts such as selectors, browser contexts, waits, downloads, uploads, and authentication flows.
  • Experience packaging Python applications using PyInstaller.
  • Knowledge of desktop application development using frameworks such as Tkinter, PyQt, PySide, or similar.
  • Ability to work with files such as CSV, Excel, JSON, PDF, and text formats.
  • Experience with REST APIs and basic database interactions.
  • Good debugging and problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding of Git and basic software development practices.
  • Ability to write clean, modular, and maintainable code.

Good to Have:

  • Experience with desktop automation tools such as PyAutoGUI, AutoHotkey, or Sikuli.
  • Experience with OCR, image-based automation, or document processing.
  • Familiarity with browser automation in enterprise environments.
  • Experience building internal productivity tools for operations teams. Knowledge of Windows application packaging, installers, and code signing.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines for building and distributing executables.
  • Exposure to QA automation frameworks and test reporting tools.
    Hands-on experience with AI coding tools such as Codex, Claude Code, Cursor, or similar platforms will be an added advantage.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 - 5 years of experience in Python development, automation engineering, QA automation, or internal tools development.
