Job Summary

We are looking for a detail-oriented and organized Production Editor to join our publishing team in Dehradun. The role involves managing the end-to-end production workflow of journal articles, from manuscript acceptance through final online and/or print publication.

The ideal candidate should have strong attention to detail, good written and verbal communication skills, excellent coordination abilities, and an interest in academic and scholarly publishing.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the complete production workflow for assigned journal articles from acceptance to final publication.
  • Coordinate with authors, editors, copy editors, typesetters, proofreaders, vendors, and internal teams.
  • Review manuscripts and production files for adherence to journal guidelines and publisher requirements.
  • Track article progress and ensure production timelines and deadlines are met.
  • Coordinate copyediting, typesetting, artwork, proofreading, corrections, and final quality checks.
  • Review article proofs for editorial, formatting, typographical, and layout-related errors.
  • Communicate author queries and corrections clearly and professionally.
  • Ensure all corrections are accurately incorporated before publication.
  • Perform quality checks on text, figures, tables, references, supplementary files, and article metadata.
  • Maintain consistency in journal style, formatting, terminology, and presentation.
  • Identify production delays or bottlenecks and follow up proactively with relevant stakeholders.
  • Work with internal teams and external vendors to resolve production-related issues.
  • Update article status and maintain accurate production records in publishing systems.
  • Escalate complex editorial or production issues to the appropriate manager.
  • Follow publisher-specific workflows, quality standards, confidentiality requirements, and ethical guidelines.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives to improve quality, turnaround time, and operational efficiency.

Eligibility & Skills

  • Graduate in any discipline from a recognized university.
  • Freshers are welcome to apply.
  • 1+ year of relevant experience in publishing, editorial, proofreading, content operations, or a related field is preferred.
  • Good command of written and spoken English.
  • Strong proofreading and error-spotting skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Good organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Good communication and coordination skills.
  • Basic knowledge of MS Office/Google Workspace.
  • Willingness to learn publishing processes, editorial tools, and workflow systems.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team.

Preferred Skills

  • Interest in academic, scholarly, or journal publishing.
  • Knowledge of editorial and proofreading processes.
  • Experience working with manuscripts, articles, or publication workflows.
