Platform Engineer

Role & responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable internal developer platforms (IDP) to improve developer productivity and software delivery efficiency.
• Develop and manage cloud-native platforms across AWS, Azure, and GCP with focus on automation, reliability, and scalability.
• Build and maintain Kubernetes-based platforms including cluster provisioning, upgrades, security, scaling, and workload management.
• Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation, ARM Templates, or Bicep.
• Develop and optimize CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, and GitOps tools such as ArgoCD and FluxCD.
• Create self-service automation capabilities to enable development teams to provision infrastructure and deploy applications independently.
• Manage container platforms using Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, OpenShift, and service mesh technologies such as Istio.
• Implement monitoring, logging, and observability solutions using Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, Splunk, Datadog, and Cloud-native monitoring tools.
• Automate operational processes using Python, Go, Bash, Shell scripting, and platform automation frameworks.
• Improve platform reliability by implementing SRE practices including SLOs, SLIs, error budgets, incident management, and performance optimization.
• Design and maintain secure platform environments using IAM, secrets management, vulnerability management, and DevSecOps practices.
• Collaborate with software engineers, DevOps teams, security teams, and infrastructure teams to improve developer experience.
• Troubleshoot complex infrastructure, deployment, networking, and application performance issues.
• Maintain platform documentation, architecture standards, operational runbooks, and best practices.
• Evaluate and introduce new cloud-native technologies to enhance platform capabilities.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to platform engineering standards and continuous improvement initiatives.

Preferred candidate profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 5 to 10 years of experience in Platform Engineering, DevOps, Cloud Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or Infrastructure Engineering.
• Strong hands-on experience with AWS, Microsoft Azure, and/or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Proven experience building and managing internal developer platforms, Kubernetes platforms, and cloud-native environments.
• Strong expertise in Kubernetes, Docker, Helm, OpenShift, container orchestration, and service mesh technologies.
• Hands-on experience with Terraform, Ansible, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and automation frameworks.
• Strong experience with CI/CD pipelines, GitOps workflows, ArgoCD, FluxCD, Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, and Azure DevOps.
• Proficiency in Linux administration and scripting languages including Python, Bash, Shell, or Go.
• Experience with observability and monitoring platforms such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, Splunk, Datadog, and New Relic.
• Strong understanding of cloud architecture, networking, security, IAM, secrets management, and DevSecOps practices.
• Experience implementing SRE principles, reliability engineering, incident response, automation, and production support processes.
• Knowledge of microservices architecture, APIs, distributed systems, and cloud-native application development.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments with cross-functional engineering teams.
