HIRING FOR PED ENGINEER FOR OUR AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY


Position: Engineer PED (Production Engineering Dept)

Reports to: Manager Production Engineering

Location: Vallam Vadagal, Oragadam

POSITION SUMMARY

• This position is responsible for supporting Production Engineering (PED) activities for

new product development, assembly line setup, process improvement, productivity

enhancement, and manufacturing process stabilization. The role requires hands-on

involvement in special purpose machine development, process trials, troubleshooting,

documentation, and coordination with production, quality, maintenance, purchase, and

suppliers to achieve safe, efficient, and cost-effective manufacturing operations.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

• Graduate Engineer in Mechanical / Automobile / Electrical / Production Engineering with

35 years of relevant experience in auto component manufacturing, assembly line

engineering, process engineering, new product industrialization, tooling, fixture

development, or special purpose machine development. Diploma in Mechanical /

Automobile / Electrical Engineering with 5–7 years of relevant experience may also be

considered.

KEY SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE

• Good knowledge of manufacturing and assembly processes, including line layout, work

flow, tooling, jigs, fixtures, equipment selection, and process stabilization.

• Hands-on experience in special purpose machines, automation, hydraulics, pneumatics,

sensors, poka-yoke systems, barcode / QR scanning, and basic machine

troubleshooting.

• Ability to conduct process trials, process proving, cycle time study, line balancing,

capacity analysis, and productivity improvement activities.

• Working knowledge of quality tools such as PFD, PFMEA, Control Plan, SOP, WI, 8D,

process capability, in-process inspection, and acceptance criteria.

• Good understanding of continuous improvement methods such as Kaizen, 5S, TPM,

TQM, waste reduction, cost reduction, and defect prevention.

• Ability to coordinate with suppliers for machine design review, development follow-up,

trials, installation, commissioning, and handover to production.

• Basic working knowledge of AutoCAD / CATIA or equivalent design tools for reviewing

layouts, fixtures, tooling, and machine concepts.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, documentation, communication, and cross-functional

coordination skills.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office tools including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

• English written and verbal communication is required; knowledge of Tamil will be an

added advantage.


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Support new product introduction by preparing manufacturing process flow, assembly

sequence, line layout, tooling and fixture requirements, and process readiness actions.

• Coordinate design, development, procurement, installation, trial, commissioning, and

handover of special purpose machines, fixtures, gauges, and production equipment.

• Conduct machine / process trials, establish process parameters, verify cycle time, carry

out process proving, and ensure required output, quality, and process capability before

production handover.

• Monitor production line performance, identify bottlenecks, troubleshoot process /

machine issues, and implement corrective actions to reduce downtime and improve

output.

• Prepare and maintain process documentation including PFD, PFMEA, Control Plan,

SOP, work instructions, check sheets, trial reports, and engineering change records.

• Implement poka-yoke, Kaizen, 5S, TPM, productivity improvement, defect reduction,

cost reduction, and waste elimination activities in the manufacturing area.

• Work with production, quality, maintenance, purchase, design, and suppliers to resolve

manufacturing concerns and ensure on-time project completion.

• Review equipment safety, operator ergonomics, quality checkpoints, and mistake-

proofing requirements during machine development and process setup.

• Train production operators and line leaders on new equipment, process sequence, work

instructions, quality requirements, and safety precautions.

• Track assigned project actions, report progress to the reporting manager, and support

achievement of production engineering department targets.
