Nuclear Medicine Technologist

• To identify Radiation Safety problems, initiating actions and ensuring compliance with regulations

• Responsible for the safety, upkeep and maintenance of all equipment within the department.
• Define & implement the radiation policies of the Hospital
• Inspect Imaging department and other areas where radiation is used in order to minimize exposure.
• Interprets new and existing regulations, advises leadership on technical and regulatory issues regarding the strategic direction of the radiation safety program applies strategic measures as appropriate.
• Advise the Radiation Safety Committee on new and proposed legislation, together with safe work practices needed for compliance
• Manages the Nuclear Medicine training program to ensure that only authorized, qualified individuals work with radiation; manages the personnel dosimetry program to limit radiation exposure to radiation users and ensure compliance and regulatory exposure limits. Ensure that suitable personnel and other monitoring devices are provided where required, kept in good working order, properly used and calibrated at least once each yea
• Oversees the supervision of personnel, which includes work allocation, training, promotion, enforcement of internal procedures and controls, and problem resolution; evaluates performance and makes recommendations for personnel actions; motivates employees to achieve peak productivity and performance.
• Performing quality control procedures for instruments used in the department.
• To perform daily and weekly quality control tests of equipment.
• Maintain liaison with support service for prompt attention to machines and ensure that the down time is minimal.
• To conduct Training of all staff regarding radiation safety.
• Adhere to the defined work flow pattern.
• Follow radiation safety norms accurately.
• To ensure radiation dose rate profile in the vicinity of the source containment confirms to the limits specified by AERB
• To ensure radiation warning signs and labels are intact, appropriately marked and legible
• Responds to radiation safety emergencies and prepares and submits required reports
• Any other work assigned by the management from time to time.
