Network Engineer L2

Role & responsibilities

Network Installation & Infrastructure Management

• Installation and configuration of network devices as per approved network plans and requirements.
• Deployment, configuration, and maintenance of L2 and L3 switches and other network infrastructure.
• Troubleshoot and provide technical support for L2 and L3 network issues.
• Ensure network devices are configured and deployed within the planned timelines.
• Maintain proper documentation of network configurations and infrastructure.

Network Monitoring & Performance

• Conduct daily monitoring of network uptime, availability, and performance.
• Handle and monitor the PRTG Server for monitoring switch traffic, bandwidth utilization, and network performance.
• Monitor network traffic and proactively identify performance issues or potential failures.
• Maintain daily uptime logs and network traffic analytics.
• Ensure timely alerts and escalation of network incidents.

Wi-Fi & Wireless Network Management

• Installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Wi-Fi infrastructure.
• Monitor the Wi-Fi Controller for Access Point (AP) performance and availability.
• Troubleshoot AP connectivity, coverage, performance, and user connectivity issues.
• Ensure optimum availability and performance of wireless networks.
• Monitor and resolve Wi-Fi-related complaints within defined SLAs.

VLAN & Switching Management

• Configure and manage VLANs on L2 and L3 switches.
• Implement and maintain required network protocols and configurations on L2 switches.
• Troubleshoot VLAN, switching, and connectivity-related issues.
• Maintain accurate VLAN configuration records and ensure compliance with approved network standards.

Meraki Network Management

• Provide technical support for Cloud-based Cisco Meraki switches and Wireless Access Points.
• Monitor Meraki dashboards for switch and AP health, uptime, performance, and alerts.
• Proactively identify and resolve issues related to Meraki network devices.
• Ensure continuous monitoring and availability of the Meraki network infrastructure.

Network Inventory & Documentation

• Manage and maintain the IT Network Inventory, including switches, access points, network devices, and related infrastructure.
• Ensure inventory records are updated on a monthly basis.
• Conduct periodic inventory verification and maintain accurate asset records.
• Maintain network diagrams, configuration records, and relevant technical documentation.

Required Technical Skills

• Strong knowledge of L2 and L3 networking.
• Hands-on experience with Routing & Switching.
• Good knowledge of VLAN configuration and management.
• Experience with Wi-Fi Controllers and Wireless Access Points.
• Hands-on experience with Cisco/Meraki networking solutions.
• Experience with PRTG Network Monitor.
• Knowledge of TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, routing, switching, and network troubleshooting.
• Ability to diagnose and resolve network connectivity and performance issues.
• Knowledge of network monitoring and infrastructure documentation.

Educational Qualification

• Bachelor's degree/Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics & Communication Engineering, or a related discipline.
• CCNA/CCNP or equivalent certification will be an added advantage.

Experience

3 to 6 years of relevant experience in network administration, network engineering, L2/L3 support, Wi-Fi infrastructure, and enterprise network operations.
