Microsoft Purview Security Engineer
Project context
As a Microsoft Purview Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing data security and compliance solutions using Microsoft Purview. You will play a key role in protecting sensitive information, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting the organization s data governance strategy. This position requires a strong understanding of Microsoft security technologies, data protection best practices, and regulatory frameworks.
Work Location : Koregaon Park, Pune
Work model: Hybrid working (3 days / week in office)
Work hours: CET Time zone (9 hours)
Goals and deliverables
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and Manage Microsoft Purview: Deploy, configure, and maintain Microsoft Purview solutions for data discovery, classification, labeling, and loss prevention.
- Implement and Manage Microsoft Entra ID: Deploy, configure Microsoft Entra ID for authentication and authorization services
- Data Security & Compliance: Ensure data security and compliance with internal policies
- Issue Resolution: Troubleshoot and resolve incidents, service requests, and technical problems related to Microsoft Purview and associated Microsoft 365 security tools.
- Monitoring: Monitor system health, alerts, and logs to proactively identify and address potential security or compliance issues.
- Documentation: Create and maintain technical documentation, knowledge base articles, and user guides for Purview security processes and solutions.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay current with Microsoft Purview updates, new features, and industry best practices to enhance support capabilities.
- Incident Response: Monitor and respond to security incidents related to data leakage, unauthorized access, or policy violations.
- Collaboration: Work closely with IT, legal, compliance, and business teams to align security controls with organizational objectives.
- Training & Awareness: Provide training and guidance to end-users and technical staff on data protection best practices and Purview capabilities.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on Microsoft Purview enhancements and industry trends to recommend and implement improvements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 6+ years of experience in information security, data protection, or related roles.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Purview (formerly Microsoft Information Protection/Compliance) and Microsoft 365 security tools (including Microsoft Entra ID).
- Strong knowledge of data classification, labeling, and loss prevention technologies.
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance requirements (GDPR, etc.).
- Experience with incident response and security operations.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Microsoft certifications (e.g., SC-400, SC-300, MS-500, or equivalent).
- Experience with cloud security (Azure, etc.).
- Knowledge of scripting or automation (PowerShell, Python).
- Experience in a multinational or highly regulated environment.
