MERN Stack Developer

About the Role

Were seeking a motivated MERN Full Stack Developer with 1-4 years of experience to join our engineering team and build enterprise-grade applications using MongoDB, Express.js, React.js, and Node.js.

Key Responsibilities

Full Stack Development

• Design and maintain scalable applications using the MERN stack
• Build responsive UIs with React.js (hooks, state management)
• Develop RESTful APIs and microservices with Node.js/Express.js
• Design and optimize MongoDB schemas
• Implement real-time features using WebSockets

Code Quality & Best Practices

• Write clean, maintainable, well-documented code
• Develop unit, integration, and end-to-end tests
• Participate in code reviews and CI/CD implementation
• Follow design patterns and enterprise development best practices

Performance & Security

• Optimise database queries, API response times, and frontend rendering
• Implement authentication, authorisation, and data encryption
• Monitor application performance and troubleshoot production issues

Collaboration

• Work with product managers, designers, and stakeholders
• Collaborate with DevOps on deployment and infrastructure
• Participate in agile ceremonies and knowledge sharing

Required Qualifications

Technical Skills

• 1-4 years of full-stack web development experience
• 1-3 years of hands-on MERN stack experience
• Strong JavaScript (ES6+) proficiency, TypeScript familiarity
• React.js expertise (hooks, Context API, component lifecycle)
• State management experience (Redux, Context API, Zustand)
• Node.js/Express.js backend development
• MongoDB knowledge (queries, CRUD, schema design)
• RESTful API design understanding
• Modern build tools (Webpack, Vite)
• Git/GitHub/GitLab version control

Enterprise Experience

• Medium to large-scale web application experience
• Exposure to microservices or distributed systems (preferred)
• Docker and containerization concepts
• Cloud platform familiarity (AWS, Azure, GCP) is beneficial
• CI/CD and deployment process understanding

Additional Skills

• Testing frameworks (Jest, Mocha, Cypress)
• Authentication mechanisms (JWT, OAuth)
• Responsive design and cross-browser compatibility
• CSS frameworks (Bootstrap, Tailwind, Material-UI)
• Agile/Scrum methodologies
• AI development tools (Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude) - plus
