Job Description

Position Overview


We are seeking an experienced Marine Superintendent with sailing experience as a Captain (minimum 3 to 5 years) on Breakbulk, General Cargo, Bulk Carrier, or Container Vessels. The role will be responsible for overseeing vessel operations, marine compliance, cargo handling activities, bunker surveys, risk assessments, and technical coordination to ensure safe and efficient maritime operations



Key Responsibilities


  • Monitor and supervise vessel operations to ensure compliance with company policies, international maritime regulations, and industry standards.
  • Review and prepare method statements, risk assessments, operational procedures, and marine documentation for project cargo and vessel operations.
  • Coordinate and oversee breakbulk, container, and project cargo operations, ensuring safe cargo loading, unloading, stowage, and transportation.
  • Conduct and monitor bunker surveys, bunker quantity verification, and fuel management activities.
  • Ensure compliance with ISM Code, ISPS Code, MLC, SOLAS, MARPOL, and other applicable maritime regulations.
  • Review vessel inspections, audits, Port State Control observations, and RightShip requirements.
  • Provide operational guidance and support to vessel masters and shipboard teams.
  • Monitor vessel performance, maintenance planning, safety management systems, and operational efficiency.
  • Investigate incidents, near misses, and non-conformities and recommend corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with ship managers, port authorities, surveyors, terminals, charterers, and regulatory bodies.
  • Assist in vessel vetting, inspections, dry dockings, and marine operational audits.
  • Support project cargo movements, route planning, cargo securing, and marine risk evaluations.
  • Maintain accurate operational records, reports, and compliance documentation.
  • Participate in emergency response planning and HSEQ initiatives.


Required Skills & Experience


  • Master Mariner (FG) Certificate of Competency.
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of sailing experience as Captain/Master.
  • Experience on Breakbulk, General Cargo, Bulk Carrier, or Container Vessels.
  • Strong knowledge of marine operations, cargo handling, vessel inspections, and maritime regulations.
  • Hands-on experience in bunker surveys and marine operational audits.
  • Experience in preparing and reviewing method statements, risk assessments, and operational procedures.
  • Strong understanding of HSEQ practices and incident investigation.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and marine reporting systems.


Preferred Candidate Profile


  • Experience in project cargo, heavy-lift, breakbulk, and port operations.
  • Exposure to vessel acquisitions, inspections, dry dockings, and marine compliance management.
  • Ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders and manage marine operations independently.
