Job Description Position Title: Manager Strategic Sourcing (Proprietary) Location: Pune Reporting To: Lead SSU
1. Job Purpose To drive strategic sourcing, cost optimization, and supplier performance management across critical component categories by developing robust sourcing strategies, leading commercial negotiations, and ensuring cost competitiveness while safeguarding product quality and supply continuity. The role is pivotal in protecting BOM costs and enabling organizational profitability through data-driven procurement practices.
2. Key Responsibilities
- 2.1 Strategic Sourcing Category Management Develop and execute category-wise sourcing strategies aligned to business objectives, cost targets, and localization priorities. Establish long-term sourcing roadmaps for mechanical and electronic components ensuring supply resilience. Define and implement pricing strategies for key and critical components to protect BOM cost targets.
- 2.2 Supplier Identification Development Identify, evaluate, and onboard suppliers based on commercial viability, technical capability, quality standards, and delivery performance. Build and maintain strong, collaborative supplier relationships to drive innovation and performance excellence. Drive supplier development and capability enhancement initiatives.
- 2.3 Commercial Negotiation Contracting Lead end-to-end commercial negotiations, including: o Part pricing o Tooling costs o Development Validation (DD) charges o DVPR costs Finalize and manage contracts, agreements, and service-level commitments. Execute periodic price amendments based on agreed frequency, market dynamics, and cost indices.
- 2.4 Costing Value Engineering Perform detailed cost analysis and should-costing for components such as: o Throttle Bodies (Mechanical / Electronic) o Gaskets, Pistons, Valves o Sensors, ECUs, Oil Pumps o Spark Plugs, Sintered Products, Mechanical Cables Drive value engineering initiatives to reduce cost without compromising functionality or quality. Generate and implement cost reduction ideas for assigned categories.
- 2.5 Market Intelligence Spend Management Conduct market research and benchmarking for raw materials and components. Track commodity trends and pricing indices (metals, electronics, polymers) to anticipate cost movements. Perform spend analytics to identify optimization opportunities and sourcing efficiencies.
- 2.6 Stakeholder Collaboration Collaborate cross-functionally with CDMM, Engineering, Finance, Operations, and Legal teams. Support new product development (NPD) initiatives through timely supplier selection and costing inputs. Ensure alignment between sourcing strategies and business/operational goals.
- 2.7 Supplier Performance Management Establish and monitor supplier KPIs covering Cost, Quality, Delivery, and Responsiveness. Conduct regular performance reviews and audits. Drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) for performance deviations.
- 2.8 Compliance, Governance Sustainability Ensure adherence to ethical sourcing practices and corporate governance standards. Maintain compliance with tax regulations (domestic and import) and assess their impact on BOM costing. Promote sustainability and ESG practices within the supplier base.
- 2.9 Process Excellence Drive continuous improvement initiatives across sourcing and procurement processes. Implement best-in-class practices to improve efficiency, transparency, and cycle times.
- 2.10 Systems Reporting Utilize advanced MS Excel for cost modelling, data analysis, and dashboards. Prepare executive-level presentations using MS PowerPoint for leadership reviews and decision-making.

4. Qualifications Experience Education: Bachelor s degree in Mechanical Engineering (preferred) Experience: 8 15 years in strategic sourcing / procurement within automotive or manufacturing industry Strong experience in component sourcing, negotiations, and cost modelling
