Mainframe Developer

Role & responsibilities

• Coding experience in CICS/VSAM and/or IMS/DB2, COBOL II, Easytrieve, JCL, MVS operating system, Expeditor, Endeavor and/or Changeman source managers.
• Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical requirements.
• Superior problem solving capabilities and communication skills (verbal and written) are required. 
• Responsible for JCL, programming, testing, conversion monitoring and verification. 
• Developed and enhanced Front End support methodology for Business Analysts
• Designs develop, installs, tests, and documents complex applications software at client product installations. Contributes to the design and delivery of technical architecture solution components.
• Experience working with software design, software development life cycle, and development methodologies and implementation
• Experience in Hogan Core Banking Applications
• Good knowledge on below Hogan concepts: Hogan Umbrella, PEM, CDMF, Librarian, Logical Environments, Hogan Abend Identification and fixing both online & batch.
• Mainframe Skills- COBOL, VSAM & JCL
• Mainframe Tools- Easytrieve, SORT Utilities, ICTOOL

Experienced Mainframe Developer with strong expertise in COBOL, JCL, DB2, and CICS. The ideal candidate will be an individual contributor capable of managing projects independently and delivering high-quality solutions in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, DB2, and CICS.
• Hands on experience with CICS (recent experience preferred) of at least 2+ years
• Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Perform debugging, troubleshooting, and performance optimization of mainframe programs.
• Ensure adherence to coding standards, best practices, and compliance requirements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams for integration and deployment.
• Handle end-to-end project execution independently, including planning, development, and delivery.

Tech Stack

• Mainframe Technologies: COBOL, COBOL-DB2, JCL, VSAM, CICS (including screen development)
• Database Expertise: DB2 (queries, optimization, maintenance), SQL
• Batch & Online Processing: High-volume workflows, queue-based processing
• Tools & Utilities: TSO/ISPF, File-AID, SPUFI, IBM Utilities
• Performance & Debugging: Impact analysis, root cause analysis, production support
