Technical/Functional Skills

Expertise in mainframe technologies Cobol, JCL, RPG, Datacom, IDEAL Panels & Programs
Preferred skills RPG, Datacom, CA-IDEAL & CA-Easytrieve
IBM tools - FILEAID, ENDEAVOR, Expeditor and SPUFI
Scheduling tools like IWS
Production support experience
Strong communication and coordination skills

Roles & Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain COBOL programs on mainframe systems
Enhance and modify existing legacy applications based on business requirements
Understand complex business logic in legacy systems
Perform impact analysis for changes or enhancements
Collaborate with business analysts to clarify requirements
Write efficient, structured COBOL code adhering to coding standards
Debug and resolve the issues
Optimize performance of batch and online programs (CICS, JCL, DB2)
Work with databases such as DB2, IMS, VSAM • Write and optimize SQL queries
Ensure data integrity and consistency • Develop unit test cases and perform unit testing
Support system integration testing (SIT) and user acceptance testing (UAT
Ensure defect resolution and quality deliverables
Coordinate with clients, business users, and cross-functional teams Provide status updates and technical insights
Participate in legacy system modernization initiatives
Assist in migration of COBOL applications to newer platforms or technologies
