Mainframe Developer

Job Summary

This hybrid role seeks a seasoned Technical Lead with 7 to 12 years of experience in mainframe development using Changeman IMS DB JCL and Cobol who will guide complex delivery ensure high quality solutions for asset and wealth management initiatives and enable resilient batch and online processing that supports critical business services for global clients.

Responsibilities

Design robust Cobol modules using structured programming practices to deliver stable and maintainable mainframe applications that support critical transaction and reporting functions for enterprise clients.

Develop efficient JCL scripts to orchestrate complex batch workflows that ensure timely processing of large data volumes and adherence to enterprise level service agreements.

Optimize IMS DB structures and access patterns to improve performance reliability and scalability of transactional systems that handle sensitive financial information.

Configure and manage Changeman components to enable controlled migration of code and JCL across environments while maintaining strict compliance with internal governance standards.

Analyze detailed business requirements from asset and wealth management stakeholders and translate them into precise technical designs that address regulatory performance and usability needs.

Review code JCL and database changes prepared by team members to ensure alignment with coding standards system design and non functional requirements such as performance and resilience.

Troubleshoot complex production incidents across Cobol IMS DB and JCL components to quickly identify root causes and restore services with minimal disruption to business operations.

Collaborate proactively with cross functional teams in a hybrid work model to plan releases manage dependencies and ensure smooth integration across upstream and downstream systems.

Document technical designs job flows and operational procedures in a clear and reusable format to support knowledge sharing and future system enhancements.

Engage with quality assurance teams to define comprehensive test scenarios data conditions and acceptance criteria that ensure robust validation of business critical features.

Implement monitoring logging and control mechanisms within batch and online components to detect anomalies early and support continuous improvement efforts.

Coordinate impact assessments for change requests to evaluate effort risk and downstream impacts across applications that support asset and wealth management services.

Mentor junior engineers by providing guidance on best practices in Cobol JCL IMS DB and Changeman usage thereby strengthening overall team capability and delivery quality.
