Mainframe Developer

Role & responsibilities

• Provide L2/L3 production support for critical mainframe applications
• Analyze and resolve application abends, DB2 issues, and CICS/IMS failures
• Develop, maintain, and enhance programs using COBOL, JCL, and DB2
• Monitor batch jobs, perform restart/recovery, and optimize performance
• Support and manage online transactions using CICS and IMS DC
• Conduct impact analysis for production issues and application changes
• Implement minor and major enhancements based on business requirements
• Coordinate with upstream and downstream teams during incidents and releases
• Participate in code reviews, release management, and deployment activities
• Perform root cause analysis and ensure timely resolution within SLA timelines
• Support incident management and ensure system stability and availability
• Contribute to mainframe modernization and DevOps initiatives where applicable
• Maintain documentation for applications, processes, and issue resolutions

Preferred candidate profile

• 4 - 6 years of experience in mainframe development and support
• Strong hands-on expertise in COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, and IMS (DB/DC)
• Proficient in SQL, DB2 performance tuning, and utilities
• Experience with VSAM datasets and batch/online processing environments
• Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills in production environments
• Experience with incident management and production support tools
• Good understanding of job scheduling, batch cycles, and recovery processes
• Exposure to application enhancement and maintenance projects

Good to Have:

• Experience in mainframe modernization or migration initiatives
• Familiarity with DevOps practices or automation in mainframe environments
