Mainframe Developer

Job Title: Mainframe Developer (COBOL, JCL, DB2) Immediate Joiners | 3–6 Years | Hyderabad

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Developer with 3 to 6 years of hands-on experience in Mainframe technologies to join our team in Hyderabad. The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in COBOL, JCL, DB2, and Mainframe development, along with experience in application maintenance, enhancement, and production support.

Immediate joiners or candidates who can join within 15 days are highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, maintain, and support Mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, and DB2.
• Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Develop and modify COBOL programs based on functional specifications.
• Create, execute, and maintain JCL for batch processing and job scheduling.
• Develop and optimize SQL queries and DB2 database objects.
• Perform unit testing, system testing, and support user acceptance testing (UAT).
• Troubleshoot and resolve application defects, production issues, and batch failures.
• Perform impact analysis for change requests and application enhancements.
• Collaborate with business analysts, QA teams, and other stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
• Participate in code reviews and follow development standards and best practices.
• Prepare technical documentation, program specifications, and operational documents.
• Provide production support and ensure adherence to defined SLAs.
• Participate in Agile or Waterfall project activities as required.

Required Technical Skills

Mainframe Technologies

• Strong hands-on experience in COBOL development.
• Experience in writing and maintaining JCL.
• Good knowledge of DB2 database development.
• Experience in Mainframe application development and maintenance.
• Strong understanding of batch processing concepts.

Database

• Proficiency in DB2.
• Strong SQL programming skills.
• Experience in query optimization and performance tuning.

Development & Support

• Experience in application enhancements and maintenance.
• Knowledge of production support processes.
• Ability to analyze logs, debug programs, and resolve issues efficiently.

Tools

• Experience with IBM Mainframe development tools.
• Familiarity with ISPF, TSO, SDSF, File-AID, SPUFI, or equivalent Mainframe utilities.
• Experience with version control and change management tools is an advantage.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• 3–6 years of experience in Mainframe development.
• Strong understanding of SDLC and software development best practices.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with CICS is an added advantage.
• Knowledge of VSAM datasets.
• Familiarity with Control-M or other job scheduling tools.
• Experience in Banking, Insurance, Healthcare, or Retail domains is preferred.
• Exposure to Agile methodologies is desirable.
