Your future duties and responsibilities
Job Summary:
CGI is looking for an experienced Mainframe Developer with strong expertise in COBOL, DB2, and VSAM to join our team.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, maintaining, and supporting business-critical mainframe applications.
You will work closely with business analysts, QA teams, and other IT professionals to ensure seamless application functionality and performance.

Key Responsibilities:
Design, develop, test, and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL, DB2, and VSAM.
Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
Perform data analysis and write complex SQL queries on DB2 databases.
Maintain and optimize batch and online programs.
Perform unit and integration testing; support user acceptance testing (UAT).
Provide production support and troubleshoot application issues.
Participate in code reviews and follow coding standards and best practices.
Document application changes and update system documentation.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role
Strong hands-on experience in COBOL, DB2, and VSAM.
Experience with JCL, CICS, and mainframe utilities (e.g., IDCAMS, IEBGENER).
Knowledge of mainframe development lifecycle and change management tools.
Proficient in writing and debugging SQL and working with stored procedures in DB2.
Good understanding of file handling, batch jobs, and performance tuning.
Familiarity with Agile or Waterfall development methodologies.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Education:
Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Experience in financial services, insurance, or banking domain.
