InDesign JavaScript Developer with XML knowledge and strong background in Artificial Intelligence (AI) will be responsible for developing and maintaining automation solutions to optimize our publishing processes.

Key Responsibilities :

- Develop, test, and maintain JavaScript-based automation scripts for Adobe InDesign.

- Create and manage XML workflows for automated document generation and processing.

- Collaborate with design, production, and development teams to gather and analyze requirements.

- Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code following best practices and coding standards.

- Debug and troubleshoot issues to optimize performance and ensure seamless integration.

- Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and adherence to standards.

- Develop and maintain technical documentation related to automation scripts and workflows.

- Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies related to InDesign, JavaScript, and XML.

Qualifications :

- Bachelors degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field with 4+ Years of experience in JavaScript development, with specific experience in Adobe InDesign automation.

- Strong knowledge of InDesign scripting and proficiency in JavaScript.

- Expertise in XML and related technologies (XSLT, XSD, XPath).

- Experience with other automation tools and scripting languages (AppleScript, ExtendScript).

- Knowledge of InDesign Server and related automation capabilities.

- Familiarity with database systems and integration.

- Experience with unit testing and test-driven development (TDD).

- Understanding of typography, layout design, and digital publishing standards.

- Understanding of software development methodologies (Agile, Scrum) and version control systems (Git).

Key Responsibilities :

1. Adobe InDesign Automation & Development :

1. Design, develop, and maintain JavaScript-based automation solutions for Adobe InDesign.

2. Create scripts and plugins to automate document creation, formatting, styling, pagination, indexing, and content placement.

3. Build custom workflows to reduce manual effort and improve publishing efficiency.

4. Develop reusable scripting frameworks and automation utilities for large-scale publishing projects.

5. Integrate InDesign automation with external systems, databases, and content management platforms.

2. Document Production & Publishing Solutions :

1. Automate generation of catalogs, books, journals, manuals, reports, brochures, and marketing collateral.

2. Develop solutions for XML, JSON, CSV, and database-driven content publishing.

3. Create dynamic templates and layouts for multi-channel publishing requirements.

4. Implement automated quality checks and validation mechanisms within publishing workflows.

5. Support print-ready and digital publishing requirements.

3. Integration & Workflow Optimization :

1. Integrate Adobe InDesign with enterprise applications, DAM systems, CMS platforms, and publishing tools.

2. Develop APIs and middleware components to facilitate content exchange between systems.

3. Optimize existing automation processes to improve performance, scalability, and reliability.

4. Troubleshoot workflow bottlenecks and implement continuous improvements.

4. Quality Assurance & Maintenance :

1. Perform testing, debugging, and validation of scripts and automated workflows.

2. Ensure compliance with publishing standards and design specifications.

3. Maintain technical documentation for developed solutions and workflows.

4. Monitor and resolve production issues impacting publishing operations.

5. Collaboration & Stakeholder Management :

1. Collaborate with Designers, Production Teams, Editors, Product Owners, and Developers to understand business requirements.

2. Participate in project planning, solution design, and technical discussions.

3. Provide technical guidance and support to internal teams regarding automation capabilities.

4. Assist in training users on newly developed automation tools and workflows.

Required Skills & Qualifications :

1. Technical Skills :

1. Strong proficiency in JavaScript/ExtendScript development for Adobe InDesign.

2. Extensive experience with Adobe InDesign scripting, automation, and document workflows.

3. Good understanding of Adobe Creative Cloud applications and their integrations.

4. Experience working with XML, JSON, CSV, XSLT, and structured content formats.

5. Knowledge of REST APIs, web services, and system integrations.

6. Familiarity with version control systems such as Git.

2. Adobe Publishing Expertise :

1. Strong understanding of print and digital publishing workflows.

2. Experience with automated composition and content-driven publishing systems.

3. Knowledge of typography, layouts, stylesheets, templates, and document production standards.

4. Familiarity with PDF generation, preflight checks, and publishing best practices.

3. Programming Skills :

1. Strong problem-solving and scripting capabilities.

2. Experience working with databases and data transformation techniques.

3. Knowledge of Node.js, HTML, CSS, or other web technologies is an added advantage.

Educational Qualification :

2. Equivalent practical experience in Adobe InDesign development and automation will also be considered.
