Lead Scientist

The Role

• As Lead Scientist, you'll own the scientific development of our products, from identifying unmet clinical needs to creating formulations that are effective, safe, palatable, and ready for commercial scale.
• You'll work at the intersection of nutrition science, veterinary medicine, formulation, and manufacturing to build products that raise the standard of companion animal healthcare.

What You'll Own

Scientific Research & Product Development

• Lead the research, formulation, and development of nutraceutical products for dogs and cats
• Translate scientific literature into commercially viable products
• Design formulations that balance efficacy, safety, palatability, stability, and cost
• Evaluate new ingredients, technologies, and delivery formats

Technical Leadership

• Stay at the forefront of companion animal nutrition and health research
• Build the scientific rationale for every product we launch
• Work with manufacturing partners to scale formulations from bench to production
• Support regulatory documentation, technical dossiers, and product claims

Cross Functional Collaboration

• Partner with veterinarians, suppliers, manufacturers, and the commercial team throughout product development
• Support clinical validation, technical education, and product training
• Help establish the scientific standards and R&D culture at Tail Healthcare

What You Bring

• 3 to 5 years of experience in pet nutrition or companion animal health R&D
• Hands on experience developing nutraceutical formulations
• Strong understanding of the nutritional requirements of both dogs and cats
• Experience working with ingredients, formulation development, stability, and manufacturing
• Ability to critically evaluate scientific literature and translate it into practical products
• A veterinary degree is a strong advantage
• A rigorous scientific mindset with a desire to build products that meaningfully improve pet health
