About the Role
We are looking for a seasoned OLS Software Lead Engineer to drive technical delivery for Leading OEM's Optical Line System (OLS) lineside software program. The Lead will work under the direction of the Software Architect, leading a team of developers while hands-on contributing to design, development, and integration activities. The ideal candidate brings strong optical networking domain knowledge combined with embedded software expertise.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the software design, development, and integration of OLS lineside modules.
- Translate software architecture and requirements into detailed low-level designs and implementation plans.
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to a team of 24 developers.
- Conduct and participate in design reviews, code reviews, and architectural discussions.
- Collaborate with the Architect, test team, and OEM stakeholders on requirement clarification and delivery.
- Own module-level delivery commitments within Agile sprints.
- Contribute to software requirement reviews and system-level interface definitions.
- Identify and mitigate technical risks throughout the development lifecycle.
- Support test team integration and validation activities.
- Maintain high code quality standards through reviews, refactoring, and documentation.
Technical Requirements
- Strong experience in optical technologies: DWDM, ROADM, amplifiers, Raman, OTDR, DGE.
- Proficient in C++ with strong object-oriented design and design patterns.
- Hands-on experience with embedded Linux and/or RTOS environments.
- Solid understanding of telecom software architecture and embedded platform development.
- Experience with inter-process communication (IPC), multi-threading, and real-time systems.
- Familiarity with NETCONF/YANG, SNMP, or gRPC for management interfaces.
- Knowledge of version control systems (Git) and CI/CD pipelines.
- Understanding of Agile Scrum methodology and sprint-based delivery.
- Experience with optical performance monitoring and fault management concepts.
