Job Description
Dear Candidate,
Job Title: Lead Engineer / Assistant Manager Maintenance (Wind turbine gearbox)
Job Purpose
To lead the installation, commissioning, testing, and continuous maintenance of all specialized assembly, testing, material handling, and workshop equipment in a brand-new, greenfield wind turbine gearbox manufacturing facility. This role ensures maximum equipment availability, zero production bottlenecks, and strict adherence to precision quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Greenfield Project & Commissioning Phase
- Equipment Installation: Oversee the installation, levelling, and commissioning of critical assembly machinery, test rigs, and plant utilities.
- Testing & Acceptance: Lead the Site Acceptance Test (SAT) and Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) protocols for precision equipment like test benches and grinding machines.
- Laying Infrastructure: Coordinate electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic hookups for ovens, washing systems, and induction heaters.
2. Specialized Equipment Maintenance
- Testing & Flushing Systems: Execute precision maintenance and calibration on heavy-duty Test Benches (spin/load testers) and Oil Flushing Machines to maintain absolute oil cleanliness levels (ISO 4406).
- Thermal Equipment: Manage and calibrate Heating Ovens, Heating Chamfers, and Induction Heaters used for interference-fit bearing and gear assembly, ensuring accurate temperature control and safety.
- Washing Systems: Maintain automated industrial Washing Machines used for component degreasing, including filtration and chemical dosing systems.
- Precision Tooling & Machining: Calibrate and service Surface Grinding Machines, high-capacity Hydraulic Power Packs, and advanced Electric Torque Tools / Smart Tooling.
3. Material Handling & Fleet Management
- Lifting Equipment: Oversee compliance, periodic load testing, and breakdown maintenance of EOT Cranes (Electric Overhead Traveling Cranes) used for lifting heavy gearboxes.
- Internal Logistics: Manage the upkeep, battery charging infrastructure, and preventive maintenance schedules for the plant's mobile fleet, including Forklifts and Battery Trucks.
4. Systems, Spares & Compliance
- Preventive Maintenance (PM): Build and execute the PM calendar from scratch, minimizing unexpected breakdowns on bottleneck machinery.
- Spare Parts Management: Define critical spare parts lists (BOM) for all equipment, specifically for hydraulics, heating elements, crane ropes, and precision sensors.
- Safety & Quality: Enforce Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) protocols across all high-voltage and high-pressure hydraulic equipment.
Candidate Profile & Qualifications
Education Qualifications
- Degree: Bachelors Degree / Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering.
Work Experience
- Experience: 5 to 10 years of industrial maintenance experience, specifically within heavy engineering, automotive powertrain, or wind gearbox assembly industries.
Diploma: 7 to 15 years
- Project Exposure: Verifiable experience driving a greenfield or major brownfield manufacturing plant expansion from construction to operational handover.
Technical Skills
- Hydraulics & Pneumatics: Expert-level troubleshooting of high-pressure hydraulic circuits, cylinders, and pumps.
- High-torque hydraulic tensioning, multi-stage industrial gearboxes, PLC automation, and industrial hydraulics/pneumatics.
- Electrical & Automation: Strong reading skills for complex electrical schematics, PLC troubleshooting, heating element wiring, and crane control panels.
