Job Description
Role & responsibilities
The Kong Developer will be responsible for designing, developing, securing, and supporting API Gateway solutions using Kong Gateway/Kong Enterprise. The role involves API onboarding, gateway configuration, plugin management, API security implementation, custom development, troubleshooting, and DevOps-enabled deployments.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and configure Kong APIs, services, routes, consumers, and plugins.
- Develop and maintain Kong custom plugins using Lua.
- Support API onboarding, Developer Portal setup, and API lifecycle management.
- Implement API security using OAuth2, JWT, API Keys, SSL/mTLS, and access control policies.
- Create HLD/LLD and API specifications for enterprise integrations.
- Troubleshoot and resolve API gateway, performance, and connectivity issues.
- Support CI/CD deployment pipelines and automation initiatives.
- Collaborate with architects, DevOps, security, and application teams.
Required Skills
- Kong Gateway / Kong Enterprise administration and development.
- REST & SOAP APIs, OpenAPI/Swagger.
- Kong Plugin Configuration and Custom Plugin Development.
- Lua Scripting.
- API Security (OAuth2, JWT, SSL/mTLS, API Keys).
- Git, CI/CD, DevOps practices.
- API Monitoring, Logging, and Troubleshooting.
